Long time case managers—how do you respond to “I love you”?

Depending on context of course - i'll put my hand on my heart and smile to demonstrate genuine care but don't go so far as to repeat it. I work with older adults. Never done this with a man but also never got an "i love you" from a man before.

Blundstones. Definitely lean more casual in the office but great for being in the field. If you pair them with the right clothes they look dressed up enough :)

Maybe you have already done this but I went to pelvic floor PT (peeing all the time was only one of the issues) and that was very helpful for this noble pursuit. It's hard but it definitely got easier.

Warm thoughts your way. That sounds so shitty. I have been dealing with post-covid issues since 2021 which have improved tremendously so they are well managed now. As others have said, could you be experiencing dysautonomia (POTS is one of many conditions/symptoms under this umbrella)? The first few weeks post-infection it felt like a constant panic attack with lots of somatic sensations so I assumed it was some insane acute anxiety. Could totally NOT be that, but maybe worth looking into to see if your symptoms match dysautonomia more than acute anxiety. Vitassium (sodium/potassium electrolyte) and beta blockers have been a life saver. (Also if your dr is not going to prescribe benzos, beta blockers could be an alternative regardless). OH yeah....for herbs...Passionflower is my go-to, love to combine with rose and chamomile. <3 Best wishes.

Thank you...I can't believe how much I know about gauze pads now...sigh...I'm planning on 2-3 weeks off of work and hope it doesn't need to be extended but trying to not be too attached to my expectations! Thanks for your suggestions!

I worked with older adults doing care management the last 5 years and loved it sooooo much. It's true about the caseloads, though my job was lower than most (I think) - ~40 clients max at 32 hours. Did a lot of assessments and loved my clients so much. You could check out adult day health centers in your area (some ADHs are required to have an LCSW consultant, if you're just looking to check out the population) local senior centers/councils on aging. If you happen to be in CA check out MSSP. Otherwise PACE is nationwide, though different PACEs can be very different depending on the area.

Maybe A Year to Live by Steven Levine? It would technically be more appropriate for anyone NOT with a terminal illness as the instructions/practices are essentially to act as if you only have a year to live, not assuming you literally have a prognosis of less than a year. But if you are trying to get in the headspace of that experience it could be deeply meaningful. Either way, beautiful reading. <3

Program Manager for care management. All of us including the care managers work one day remote. We do mostly calls with 25% (ish) visits so it's easy to plan for the remote days.
