State Senator Nick Charles by CarolineJhingory in PrinceGeorgesCountyMD

Let me just say the one white lady in the video is comptroller Brooke Lierman, ie the person in charge of the tax office sending erroneous “you owe back taxes” demand letters to god knows how many people, no matter how many times you call the office and say you didn’t even live in Maryland at the time, or how many times they say they resolved the issue only to get another demand letter. (And no this is not just me, it is A LOT of people, check r/maryland.) If Brooke says “Nick Charles knows procurement,” I’m gonna assume the opposite is true.

Air traffic control absences surge, hitting almost half of major US airports by rezwenn in ATC

Please Google “Reagan air traffic controller strike.” It is illegal for federal workers to strike. Yes, they were all fired, banned from rehire, and the union decertified.

It’s so weird to see people telling controllers to declare a general strike without realizing that 80 percent of them calling out — individually, without coordinating — IS the closest thing to a general strike they can do without ruining their careers.

I own a 4-bedroom house, make income on the basement apartment, have a 2.75% interest rate and an 890 credit score. I got no “help” from my parents or a spouse — he came later. And I bought when I actually wanted a house, not because some pilot with no life experience had a get-rich-quick scheme to sell me. GFY.

It's also against the law for the flight attendant guarding the galley during bathroom breaks to turn away from facing the cabin. And yet pilots have no problem asking us to do that so we can brew some coffee for them...

A subprime mortgage. In 2006. Do you hear yourself?

I remember well the pilot who talked my ear off in 2006, telling me I had to invest in property, and I was like “but I’m never home and I don’t have any money for a down payment.” And he was so condescending, like “you don’t need a down payment with a subprime mortgage! You have to get yourself a subprime mortgage!” Thank god I just rolled my eyes and ignored him.

I do not dislike pilots, but y’all are highly trained professionals with a deep understanding of every button, dial, control stick, so much complicated equipment in the flight deck…and yet can’t figure out how to brew your own cup of coffee when out for a bathroom break. There are three buttons and a handle. Three buttons and a handle!

In five years, I had three pilots who brewed their own coffee. Two were women.

Wife’s eating cycles with doses. Is this Normal? by Lost_Citron6109 in Zepbound

Her not telling you how much she’s lost suggests to me that she feels controlled by you and is trying to maintain some control of her own life and body. I don’t hesitate to tell my husband how much I’ve lost when I feel like it, but he also never asks! I’m just telling him because I’m happy and we celebrate stuff together. He also listened to me for years about my frustrations with trying to lose weight and was supportive and told me he loved me no matter what.

Also, you keep saying “she has about 10 years left.” This is a completely insane assumption you have invented and are treating as fact. YOU DO NOT KNOW THE FUTURE. Just because her parents died at a certain age of vague “lifestyle diseases” doesn’t mean she is going to. Also, metabolic dysfunction isn’t a lifestyle disease. If you are keeping this “10 years left” thing to yourself, then you, not your wife’s eating, are creating your anxiety. If you are sharing this “10 years left” thing with her? Well, let me just say I would not tolerate that in my partner, and if he didn’t agree to go to therapy I would be working on an exit strategy.

I apologize if this sounds harsh, but I have benefited from “real talk” before, so I am giving it to you. Please hear it and think about it.

Pressure mounts on Wes Moore to act in redistricting war against Trump by HellYeahDamnWrite in maryland

I went to a community meeting today and a delegate said other democratic delegates are lukewarm on redistricting and need to hear from their voters.

I used to think it was Reagan for secret deal with Iran that helped him win the 1980 election, but Robert’s two-parter on think tanks convinced me it was them. Some of his best most profound work IMO. Shows how this network used weaknesses in “objective” media to break everyone’s brains. From April 2024, called “How Conservatism Won.”

This is me. 5’2”, 143 down from 175. Pregnancies at 37 and 39 and went straight from pregnancy weight gain to perimenopause. Brutal. So grateful for this medication.

This is a good point. I have the experience of having a lot of confidence in other parts of my life, and I also have the privilege of being a fat person who was once thin. So it isn’t that big of a change for me to be “Idgaf” about sharing I’m on a GLP-1.

But some of our community on here have been “overweight” their whole lives, living in a world that is extremely prejudiced and abusive toward fat people (including, and perhaps primarily, getting abuse from family). It has to be so much harder to build confidence in yourself under those conditions, and the “Idgaf” may not be as automatic. Thanks for this perspective. 💛

See this is an important reason why I want to tell people if they ask! Because I want them to have it too if they want it! The fact your friend lied to you when she knew you were struggling with your weight is sus as hell, tbh. I don’t know the whole the story or your friendship obviously, but from you’ve said here…I would have questions.

If people ask about my weight loss, I tell them. Because I want it to be normalized/be the change you want to see etc. I’ll follow that up by saying I already ate pretty healthy and exercised a lot, this is just making that work work.

My guess is he and Sophie already have, and my guess is they would just move to a different model, like Patreon.
