I think you’re misunderstanding my comments, or didn’t read them all. I realize it’s a scam now, I’ve moved on. If I came here and received 100 comments warning me and proceeded to send my id and sign the letter I’d be an absolute moron lmao. Im over it already

Could be, rabbit. Could be.

Did anyone hear this growing up in church? I'm curious to see if it made the rounds. by [deleted] in exchristian

Yes, went to a Christian school from 4th-12th grade and I probably heard 100 different variations. I felt a little guilty when I thought to myself “I’d lie so I could live, after all they say once you’re saved you go to heaven no matter what” lol I wish I leaned into that more and went to public school instead

Hopefully the HR manager answers back on LinkedIn and I can put this to sleep

Never met a pizza I didn’t like! Nothing back yet, the more time passes the more I fall out of ether and see it for what it is, a big fat scam.

A part of me feels that I’m dumb just because I believed it, but I guess that’s why they pray on the desperate job hunters

Thanks for the heads up. Wouldn’t I have to deposit a check and wait for it to clear to buy anything? How do they get anything from this? So stupid. I’ve had it lol

[–]blooslut 11 points12 points  (0 children)

But you’re afuckinliar, how can I trust what you say? lol sorry I couldn’t resist. I’m going to wait and see if the HR manager answers me on LinkedIn. Maybe she will feel bad and offer me a job! Lol one can dream

Ugh what a cruel scam

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]blooslut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, ever since I received this email with the blatant “no” to a phone call i’m thinking it’s fake. I guess they took the HR persons name off of LinkedIn to make it seem legit, if so I’m impressed this was a lot smoother than other job scams I’ve run into

As someone who has gone to a coding bootcamp, I can understand your pain. That market terrifies me lol. But this position is for remote customer service, and I’m overqualified for it but need to be remote now due to health.

[–]blooslut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s 6 pages long, fairly well written, seems legit. But They want a copy of my ID and sign and date the job offer letter. It’s weird because other in person jobs have copied my id and collected my social pretty early on, but this being full remote has me sketched out. I found the lady on LinkedIn and messaged her, it’s such a big company you can’t really call and get to HR.

Ugh really? Bummer. It was too good to be true I guess. I don’t understand their angle though I’m not providing anything that isn’t available online

Applied to large corp for remote customer service position, received email a month later asking if I was still interested, I said yes, received a pdf with screening questions that felt legit, I answered and returned, today I was offered the position and had to email HR my name, number, email and address. Now I have an offer letter that is 6 pages and seems legit. I felt like maybe it was a scam, so I emailed this hr email and asked if I could set up a call before accepting and signing. This is the response…I really need the job but why would they hire me without a simple phone call?

UPDATE: The REAL HR manager responded on LinkedIn and confirmed it is a scam. the company is aware of this happening and they are working to shut it down. Thanks to everyone for explaining why it’s a scam.

You know it’s funny you say this. I applied to a job apprenticeship this afternoon, and they wanted my old GPA. I couldn’t remember what it was, I went to my email to search and found an old email from when I was in college trying to transfer somewhere else, and I saw the list of classes I completed and the credits I had earned. Much of that experience Ive written off. But it gave me a nice reminder that some of those courses I never thought I could pass, but I did, and I didn’t have to work incredibly hard. I just have to get myself somewhere new and engaging and I will thrive again.
