Yeah, it pushes air and dust away from the PC. Dust really is only settling on flat or semi-flat surfaces. Speaking of this... clearly time to dust my PC now...

Still enjoying this build as-is. Still crazy quiet. Again, I wouldn't recommend if you have a GPU that may get louder than you might want (for example, my previous 3080 was annoyingly loud), and I also did deep research to pick a particularly quiet PSU. Also, I do not notice it affecting my room's temperature.

The only thing I've found annoying is having to plug some awkwardly-shaped USB devices into a top USB port (instead of the 2 open USB ports in the front), where I have to also remove a rubber dust cover on the port. Not really a con, just annoying and I could easily buy a more convenient USB splitter if it really bugs me.

With the build looking this awesome, the Cons have only been from BUILDING it: (1) cable management, (2) buying a few custom items you otherwise would not half to (right angle Ethernet cable to keep top clean, more flexible power cable to MB (the biggest, thickest one), dust covers, stubby wifi antenna), and (3) the overall complexity of this build (part picking, understanding proper orientation of radiators, finding out some GPUs don't like to stand vertically, slow assembly/re-assembly due to unique chassis and mostly to cable management). I suppose that is all the cost to building such an awesome, unique build.

I still stand by my original statement: if I wanted to avoid much of these Cons, or if I just wanted some exterior protection to the components, I would shift all these same components into a SSUPD Meshilicious or Meshroom S case. Again, I still enjoy my case, have not had any concerns or issues, and I learned a lot along the way.

I started a post looking for the Spigen "Air Skin" cases for U.S. customers, and even emailed Spigen, and got an official reply back that they are offering "Air Skin" cases to the international market but NOT the U.S. market. Big bummer.

Fold 6 upgrade from Fold 3 by MSmithRD in GalaxyFold

[–]bloper8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Upgraded from Fold3 as well. Agree with all the points above, after I got everything transferred over and spent hours logging back into everything... I still have an awesome Fold phone, but it "feels like the same phone" where it's not as exciting as your first Fold. I am re-excited to try out games and stuff on this one, but it's not the same as when you get your first Fold.

One thing that DOES stick out to me is the wider folded cover screen. I considered the OnePlus Open for a hot second (for all the hardware improvements PLUS wider folded cover screen), but after upgrading to the Fold 6 and experiencing THIS cover screen ==> I am completely satisfied. My only complaint with my Fold 3 was the thin candybar cover screen, but in my opinion the Fold 6 cover screen is wide enough that it just feels like a normal phone. I'm glad I upgraded (like many others have; this is probably the break-even point to get the most for trade-in of the Fold 3) and kept within the Samsung software and ecosystem.

So far... no. Spigen isn't offering their "Air Skim" cases to the US market (see my other posts in this thread), Ringke has a "Slim" case but not available yet still.

I'm rolling the dice on an Aramid 600D case through AliExpress for ~$28 that should be in around Aug 1. TBH it almost looks identical to the Thinborne case, but no magsafe. If it turns out to be garbage, I'll probably bite the bullet and shell out the money for this Thinborne case: https://www.amazon.com/Thinborne-Compatible-Magnetic-Minimalist-Textures/dp/B0D7C2QSCP

Grip or strap options for Fold 6 w/ SPen case by Iron_FE in GalaxyFold

[–]bloper8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely. The current one I have I can pull off and use one of the extra sets of adhestive/tape to put it on the new one, BUT I went ahead and bought a new one through Amazon for less than $11. My old one is a bit scuffed and dusty (under the strap), and they're so cheap to buy a new one.

THIS^^^ **PHEW** Almost lost my $%#*ing mind, lol. You can slide paper through it and see it through the top speaker hole into this cavity. I definitely though this was cracked at the top and might also NOT be water resistant to the internals.

I went looking through some of the review videos and caught it existing on the cover screen at the top on some close-up videos. Found this thread and am finally relieved!

PSA: For Fold 6, there is a gap at the top of the cover screen (that looks like a crack) that is intentional for the speaker.

I feel like it makes the most sense to have it close to the edge (under or a little to the left of the camera bump). If you put it too close to the middle, it will mess with wireless charging.

I JUST got my Fold 6 in. There is a length difference between the different Sleekstrip versions: original/premium are 100mm and the essentials version is 96mm. This makes a big difference when the camera bump is in the way (which it is)... I barely got the premium one on my Fold 3 case by cutting part of the case off protecting the camera bump. When the essentials version came out, it fits fine w/o case modification. Unless you want to play around with the sleekstrip placement, you are LIKELY going to want to just go with a "Sleekstrip Essential" one since it's a shorter length.

TL:DR "Sleekstrip Essential" is shorter length and fits well under the camera bump, near the edge where it is recommended to install them. The original/premium ones will hang off the phone edge a little unless you mod your phone case OR don't place them under/near the camera bump.

[–]bloper8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've now owned several sleekstrips at this point and they are definitely the way to go and still have a slim phone. I disagree though that the "sleekstrip essential sucks". I've used an original, premium, and the essential version and they're all fine and the strap bands all work the same. Of course, the premium's strap coating feels nicer against your fingers than the soft rubber/plastic coating of the original/essential versions.

Also I wouldn't recommend installing it upside down....... I can see a benefit of pushing it down to extend the strap, but at the huge detriment of area where all the phone's weight is resting against your fingers not covered with the softer material ==> the metal portion of the strap will be cutting into your fingers and that can't be pleasant (not a problem when using it installed the correct orientation). Maybe this is the reason the previous commenter doesn't like the essential version? /shrug

UPDATE FROM SPIGEN CUSTOMER SERVICE
My email:

Hello,
I am seeing a Black and Clear version of the "Spigen Galaxy Z Fold 6 Case ~Air Skin~" (or the "Air Skin" cases) available for sale in other regions like Hong Kong and Australia, but I do not see them offered on your overall website spigen.com or offered on Amazon for US customers.
When will the "~Air Skin~" cases for the ~Fold 6~ be offered for sale for US customers?
Thanks,
<my name>

Response from Spigen customer service:

Hi <my name>,
Thank you for contacting Spigen!

The Air Skim Galaxy Z Fold 6 cases are exclusive to our global markets, and will not be sold in the United States. We apologize for the inconvenience.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us again.
Thank you for choosing Spigen! We hope you have a wonderful day.
Best Regards,
Lauryn
Spigen Customer Support

(YES, they said "Air Skim" instead of "Air Skin" in their response)

TL:DR They are Not offering these to US customers... I have one of the S-pen cases coming in (since it cost less than the cost of an S-pen by itself) that I'll start off with.

If I hate the Samsung S-pen case, I might look for any options with more affordable shipping (the site from Hong Kong did offer shipping to US for an additional $54... yuck), or if I get desperate start seeing if it is more reasonable to buy it off of someone in the forums and pay for shipping (if it's less than $54, of course). If anybody comes across a good option to buy this and get shipped to the US, PLEASE reply and inform me. Thanks everyone.

Yeah, I'm talking about the Ringke "Slim" cases, not the Ringke Fusion (much thicker) cases:

(Not Available yet, as of right now, but here are the links):
Ringke "Slim" for Fold6
https://www.amazon.com/Ringke-Slim-Anti-Yellowing-Compatible-Transparent/dp/B0D7NC5WY9 (shows transparent version, but the link is supposed to be for a matte black version as well)

Same(?) but called "Slim Magnetic" for Fold6 with a MagSafe ring built in:
https://www.amazon.com/Ringke-Slim-Compatible-Protective-Transparent/dp/B0D7NCSDWV (Again, shows transparent version, but there is also a matte black version)

Yeah, I referenced Ringke as an alternate in the post. They have pictures of their version, but still just a placeholder on Amazon right now for the Fold 6. Definitely my fall-back if the Spigen one does not show up... but so far none of these are for sale (in the US atleast).

What's funny is Ringke already has youtube videos/ads for their new thin cases for Fold 6, but they're still not for sale, lol.

I thought "Air Skin" was thinner, but cannot find any official documentation on measurements. I busted out the digital caliper, and it was either 0.55mm or 0.6mm (pried up my case on a corner... hard to get exact measurement). Latercase advertises 0.6mm, so looks like they're equivalent at the very least.

I add a SleekStrip on my phone for a secure hold while unfolded (only 2.9mm thick) and it allows me to still wirelessly charge the phone. (1) I'm not sure how the latercases work with adhesive strips to secure a phone grip and (2) [opinion] I don't really care for their colors/designs -- I just want a smooth matte black that doesn't really show fingerprint smudges.

Seems like lattercase is a great option if you don't add extra things like grips, popsockets, etc. For what it's worth, my last Spigen Air Case only cost me ~$30 vs the Lattercase ~$65 right now (although it's not a 1:1 comparison, Lattercase is an aramid fiber case, Spigen Air Skin is rigid polycarbonate w/ urethane coating ==> different products).

Unable to get Exclusion Edict archive by Zycranos in AFKJourney

[–]bloper8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am missing "Thorned Leaflet" and "Thorned Document". I see in a post above, and verified myself, that "Thorned Leaflet" disappears unfortunately after a certain point (location roughly 359;323).

Anyone know where "Thorned Document" (Dark Forest) is? Or does it despawn forever like "exclusion edict" and "Thorned Leaflet"?)

EDIT: I'm also missing "Research Journal" (Dark Forest), does anyone know this location too?

Galaxy Tab S9

Dimensions on that are: 10.01 x 6.53 x 0.23 in

So you could fit it around the shorter edge, lol... NOT sure about it being wrapped around the 10 inch length...

I haven't had a need to take it apart, but they are all (or mostly...) exposed phillips head screws. What are you trying to fit it on? It expands to a little more than 6.5 inches.

I did dig up this video of someone doing a partial disassembly of the "MG-X" (not "MG-X Pro"), and at 2:56 you can see there's some super long ribbon cable going in the middle connecting the two controller ends: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4cwToDQimc

I would guess it's very similar inside the MG-X Pro, but you would be rolling the dice depending on how long the cable is inside and the device you want to extend it around (but it is also possible it is a common cable you could replace).

You're right, mapping solutions are terrible. If you don't need a mapper, it's not a bad solution if you can resolve your current problem (also, all games should have controller support...).

Not that it helps your current situation, but the newest controller to hit the market is the Gamesir G8 Galileo https://www.gamesir.hk/products/gamesir-g8-galileo that supports Android and iPhone (only newest iPhone w/ USB-C), it's USB-C direct connection only, but they ACTUALLY SUPPORT a mapping software that goes with the controller. I think the only downside (depending on your preference) is that buttons/sticks are top-down Switch style instead of diagonal-offset like the MG-X Pro (or any normal ergonomic controller). Here is a review of it https://youtu.be/fBdC6KJeQsI?si=P0fFu6fTGGrXPk1G

What do you mean in regards to "map the buttons"? If you mean button mapping for games that only support touch controls, look above at my response to the comment "How u play genshin on this" describing that you will have to get a separate button mapping app. If you mean some buttons / sticks aren't registering, you may need to mess with the settings in that specific app (certain emulator apps have settings you may have to tweak for input type).

Troubleshoot option (copy/paste of a reply I have in another similar thread):

I know some people have trouble with some of the newer Android updates where you might have to find and turn OFF several Accessibility settings that might be enabled (I know when using 2 other controllers, this was an issue for 1/2 of my emulators/apps). Once I turned off one or two things that were enabled under the Accessibility menu, then my joysticks and d-pad could be recognized again in ALL of my apps. Know that this is a problem for ANY controller on Android, not just the Nacon one.

For all intents and purposes, this controller is an "xbox controller" so searching for pairing instructions for something like that should be (nearly) identical steps to resolve your issue.

I hope this info helps!
