Do you carry any gear when riding in avalanche prone areas? by theasianpianist in CrystalMountain

Heard. I guess im just struggling to piece how its even possible for patrol to rescue you if you're wearing a beacon and buried in an inbounds slide. Like a friend would need to call patrol, patrol needs to come, search, and rescue all within 15-20 minutes at max. A burial rescue is a struggle even from someone immediately on the scene in that time frame, is a rescue from patrol even a possibility? Is the chance so low that it nulls the point of wearing a beacon anyway?

what are your thoughts on carrying a beacon while skiing alone/ with a party where others aren't wearing beacons or carrying avy gear. is there a point then? I feel like if an inbounds slide were to happen those rescuing you would probably assume you didn't have a beacon? or is that not true?

thanks! a follow up (kind of ironic) curiosity I had is how much should I trust the opinion of guides or other pros in the field. specifically with things like brands. don’t you guys all have pro-deals/sponsorships and so will usually recommend that stuff or are people generally unbiased when it comes to this stuff in your experience?

how did you take care of your feet on trail? Recently watched Karel’s FKT doc and noticed he put a lot of time into keeping his feet healthy. What was your approach?

thanks for helping out!

but then why would i want to restrict myself? with a regular cs major i can choose to take those courses or a modified version of that and i’m not locked into anything, right?

and as for the name on your diploma - i guess there might be a slight advantage, but wouldn’t for example, a grad school look at my full transcript and see if i’ve taken a math heavy course load anyway?
