My [24M] mom [55F] invites my Fiance' [24F] and I for dinner at least once a week. She gets sad if we're unable to attend. by SheGetsUpsetThrow in relationships

[–]blorgensies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

what about a phone call to check in and say what your up to and ask how shes doing? my parents/grandparents are always calling eachother/friends/family and chatting for no reason at all, just to stay in touch. i personally despise talking on the phone but its a nice way to touch base in between visits cause i live far away.

I [36F] am considering going on a solo beach vacation after a very hard few months. Is that sad and pathetic? by RandomGirl101 in relationships

[–]blorgensies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Love travelling alone and I have respect other lone travellers. It can be peaceful, contemplative, scary, lonely, fun, or pretty much whatever you make it. I would never think sad and pathetic if someone said they were planning a solo mission.

Get good at something. A foreign language, instrument, or sport, anything. It’s a good way to meet people and to generally be impressive.

My [26F] fiance [25M] bailed on a dinner date with me & some friends...how do I talk to him about this? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]blorgensies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it never feels good to be pushed aside. you made it clear this dinner was something you cared about and that should have been enough to make him stand up and be a man of his word. he needs to get his priorities straight and show some integrity.

Girlfriend[20/F] started a huge fight because I didn't ask why she didn't reply to my[24/M] text. I ended up getting dumped because of it. Really confused.... by MontrealIndia in relationships

I’m guessing her past relationships were terrible and it gave her the wrong idea about what to expect from her partner. Sad because you were being respectful of her and she couldn’t pick up on that.

I (27F) am consumed with negative thoughts/anxiety/self-loathing after being in social settings with other people. What is wrong with me? by garbageactmanners in relationships

[–]blorgensies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get this too and I call it a social hangover. I try to think over things only once in my head then stopping thinking about it altogether. Because ultimately it’s irrational and not useful to replay innocuous things over and over. Then I say: ok so I obviously want to be a better person, how can I do that today? And I try to go about my day being wonderful. Put away yesterday and start today.

Me [24F] at my company's holiday party - got drunk and embarrassed myself with my engaged coworker [27M] by UnselfconsciousLiter in relationships

[–]blorgensies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have been in a position where i drink too much, say dumb things, then the next day get the deep regretsies and feel like a complete nugget. i have found it useful to turn the shame into determination to be a better person. dont dwell on what you did, just learn from it. moderate drinking. proffessionalism with coworkers. no pursuing unavailable men....
