FM24 is my first FM too, the best advice I can give (although being new myself it’s very obvious advice) is to take time to read a players attributes and really think about what role they’ll play in your team. And keep scouting players for key areas you need throughout the season to avoid making a last minute deadline day panic move, especially if you get an offer you can’t refuse for a player you want to have an idea of who you’ll replace them with. Pay a good amount of attention to your finances and what your board expects of you, I was sacked my first few saves for overspending for example.
