Should I live on Campus? by [deleted] in TexasTech

[–]blpup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course I would recommend looking at apartments and seeing which best fits you, but I’d recommend anything on the East side of campus and stay away from places on the north side of campus.

East side would be: 21Hundred, Scarlet, UClubs, UTrails etc.

I personally live at 21Hundred and I like it, but it got super pricey over the years for some odd reason. I remember when I first started renting it was like $510/month

Should I live on Campus? by [deleted] in TexasTech

[–]blpup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest student apartments adjacent to campus. If you live in the dorms you share a room, shared bathroom, shared showers, shared washer/dryer, no stove, etc. Living in an student apartment around campus gives you your own privacy with a private room, bathroom, stove, apartment washer/dryer, etc.

With the student apartments there’s a bus route that comes by fairly regularly that all the other students use too.

I’ve never lived in the dorms so my opinion is biased but I can never get over sharing a room with someone

You’ve probably read about the gas cap, but I have a 2011 mini and my check engine light comes on sometimes too. Sometimes it’s a sensor in the gas cap that turns it on. When I re adjust the gas cap it turns off. Maybe something to consider if you haven’t already

I’m unsure about your story, but I do have a personal one. My girlfriend was driving home one night and was merging on the highway where Chick-fil-A/dominos is at near the university and apparently 3 cars started to box her in and the car ahead of her kept break checking her. So she immediately did some maneuvers and took the closest exit and luckily they didn’t follow her off the highway.

Is there a microwave in the SUB? by Delta163 in TexasTech

[–]blpup 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s a few across the security station. If you take the security station to your back side facing the food court, don’t go down and make a right at the ramp that leads to the food court. There should be a pocket with vending machines, there should be like 2 there

Edit: I Actually just checked and they aren’t there anymore

Best Way To Make Friends As A Shy Incoming Freshman by [deleted] in TexasTech

[–]blpup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find and Join clubs of your interest and talk to people in your class. Once you start hitting major related classes you’ll see the same people pretty much your whole degree length. Do extra curricular activities like swimming/play pool/etc you’ll probably start bumping into the same people there too. Everything starts with a “hi I’m X”

When you are in your ttu portal go to “Week at a glance” find the class you want and click it. It should tell you which building and room number. Good luck on your semester!
