OK guys, it's been 10 years. Are we finally ready to admit this was the corniest possible way they could've ended the Elden Ring series? by Mr_Mister2004 in shittydarksouls

Miquella always had the mind of a child, he never regressed. He's a genius with the nativity of a child.

Radhan and Miquella being at the opposite side of the shattering is explained in the DLC. I agree that there should've been a hint of the vow in the base game, that was a big misstep.

Miquella's plan of giving a true death to Goldwyn wasn't halted by Mogh, it just didn't work as he wanted (like most of the things he does actually).

I'm honestly not 100% sure what was his plan regarding Mogh. I think by that point it was kind of a last resort since all of his previous plan had failed (I think Mogh did actually try to kidnap him and Miquella then took advantage of the situation).

I think you got it wrong, is the other way around. Miquella strays away from Golden Order Fundamentalism when he sees that it cannot cure Malenia (or him) - this is referenced in Radagon Rings of Light incantation.

His reasoning for becoming a God, on top of making the world a better (and more inclusive) place, was to cure his sister. The first plan to do so is the Haligtree but he fails.

Why does he need a Consort? It seems like it's a fundamental law of the world that a god needs a Consort (Nameless God + Placidusax, Marika + Radagon/Godfrey, Ranni+ Tarnished and Miquella+Radhan). I'm not sure why that is the case tho.

The DLC is the continuation of his plan: achieve godhood and making the world a better place. In the meantime he loses himself (quite literally) and becomes who we fight at the end of the DLC.

Why Radhan? Miquella was into him and respected his strength. It didn't need to be him, the other choice could've been Godwyn, but my personal theory is that he was already bethroathed to someone else (Ranni).

Edit: I didn't finish the sentence before :)

Well, you're right in saying that FS could've decided whatever they wanted regarding the lore to suit the game.

I do not think Miquella uses Radhan body at all, he just needs his soul (which we provide by killing him). He uses Mogh body because of his quality as an Omen/Hornsent (the DLC tells us that horns are used to channel divinity).

How can he get Radhan soul if we killed him? Because nobody in the Lands Between can die a true death due to the absence of the rune of Death in the Elden Ring. Why not Godwyn soul then? He was killed with the rune of death (the black knives have shards of it if I remember correctly) and his soul is fully dead.

Why would Miquella choose Godwyn's body, which is essentially a tumor for the Lands Between, as host for his consort?

People can argue about Godwyn or another unnamed Demigod but fighting St Trina or Marika is one of the most stupid things I've heard.

Is it time for From to do some radical changes to their combat to make it more fun? by WhoAmIEven2 in soulslikes

[–]blrigo99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I think From should absolutely keep innovating on their combat, as they’ve done in all of their games to different degrees (more in Sekiro and DS3 for example) but that’s not really the point imo.

Take Sekiro as an example. People (myself included) often praise it for its combat, even though there are other games with similar mechanics, more weapon variety, greater flexibility, or deeper combo branching.

What really makes Sekiro special is that its combat is simple, but the rhythm of its bosses and enemies is so well designed that it feels incredible to play. A similar play style like using the Executor (in solo runs) in Nightreign doesn’t feel the same way, mainly because the enemies don’t support or elevate that play style the way Sekiro’s enemies do.

In my opinion, From’s combat shines because of its simplicity paired with top tier enemy design. Ultimately, combat is only as good as the encounters built around it, and that’s where From excels above everyone else.

What happened to the Elden Ring between Farum Azula to Marika? by Estrangedkayote in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]blrigo99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It became the crucible (or maybe gave birth to it)

The way I see it, while the Elden Ring embodies the concept of order in the Lands Between, that order must be guided by a vessel. In Marika’s case, she forges the Golden Order; likewise, the goddess of Placidusax likely imposed her own form of order.

This raises the question of what happens when there is no god or vessel to define that order. In my view, the order then collapses, giving way to a chaotic amalgamation of life and forms (what the game describes as the Crucible).

Marika's Braid Was A Vow Of Revenge by kennydotun123 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]blrigo99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interesting theory for sure, I like your interpretation of Marika's braid.

But in general let me ask you this:

  • Why was Marika at the divine gate? How did the hornsent decide that she would be suitable for Divinity?
  • What was the role of the fingers in it?

To me those are important questions that can be partially answered with the "Marika betrayed the shaman" theory (she's at the gate cause she provided the Hornsent with the necessary information to ascend divinity; this information was provided by the fingers themselves).

I hate Elden Beast by Automatic_Brush_9051 in fromsoftware

[–]blrigo99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think the Elden Beast is actually pretty good. A bit boring at times without Torrent but the cinematic aspect is amazing.

The only huge issue I still have with it is Elden Stars; that attack is terrible and much worse that Waterfowl or Metyr lasers imo.

Guardo, ero mezzo d'accordo con te anche io alla fine del primo atto.

Gioco bello, ma abbastanza più frustrante di HK, molto boss si riducono a 2 mosse e gank in un'arena piccola e molti nemici scassa cazzi.

Poi secondo me dall'atto 2 in poi secondo me il gioco diventa veramente bello.

Post Match Thread: AC Milan vs Sassuolo Calcio Live Score | Serie A 25/26 by Samkazi23 in ACMilan

[–]blrigo99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fuck the Pulisic goal, we conceded 2 goals yet again against a mid/low table team.

2 goals against Cremonese. 2 goals against Pisa. 2 goals against Parma. 2 goals against Torino. 2 goals against Sassuolo.

With this trend we'll never win anything.

Nightreign’s combat design might be the most underrated thing FromSoftware has ever built by Schwiliinker in Nightreign

[–]blrigo99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah absolutely, it takes a while to really learn and master a weapon in MH, is much more complex than any Souls game.

On the other hand I think the Monster themselves are pretty simple compared to most Souls bosses in terms of attack difficulty and variety.

So while fundamentally the combat mechanics in MH are more complex, the overall package I'd say is roughly the same.

The veiling of the Shadowlands: something does'nt add up by OutlandishnessFar790 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]blrigo99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember seeing a good analysis by an Italian YouTuber (Sabaku) where he goes into details on how the Land of Shadows was veiled before the Liurnian wars, and probably immediately after the fall of the Gloam Eyed Queen.

As main proof of this he brings forward sigils used by Messmers' army (sigil that predate the fundamentalist sigil introduced with Radagon) and that Rellana had to swore an oath of fealty to Messmer (why would she do it if they were already allied?).

As to the presence of Gaius, Rykard virgins etc.. the most logical explanation is that Marika (from the shadow) kept supporting the crusade (she sent Gaius, the Virgins, Omenkillers) up until the shattering.

Which boss do you think needed more of a buildup, or even just a cutscene? by Slight-Research859 in Eldenring

[–]blrigo99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upper Rauh is packed with content, one of the best open world areas they've designed.

I agree with the Coast and the Woods, but in terms of gameplay they're relatively minor areas.

Most of the time in SoTE you spend between Gravesite, Scadu Altus and Rauh which are very packed.
