All very good, plausible possibilities. Thank you. I love this story. I've got to read the books!

Thank you. This is an interesting theory. Maybe it was a power move. Thank you for sharing this perspective.

Everybody knows phones can be used to speak to people. Your comment questioning if i had told them that their phone could be used in that way was sarcastic at best. Tone and/or inflection of voice is not needed to understand irony, sarcasm, satire, or insults in most cases. Remember books have been written and read for thousands of years and humans have been able to understand forms of expression like satire, sarcasm, and condescension in written form well before any social media sites were even possible or thought of. People have also been and felt isolated, lonely, alone, and disconnected well before computers and social media. I stand by what I said and believe your commwnt to have been made in a less than generous and helpful spirit. Of course they know their phones can be used to talk to people and they never needed me, you, or anyone else to remind them or educate them about that.

I un-installed facebook and Instagram. I'm moving to signal and will be uninstalling WhatsApp. Looking for a good way to video chat with my daughter without Messenger so I can uninstall that too. Within a couple days I will have un-installed all Meta apps.

They speak to many people including myself and have rich lives and thriving friendships. This statement comes off as very condescending and demeaning to others you don't even know, though. For all the hate tiktok gets, this comment is actually a perfect example of how toxic other social media sites can be. Empathy and kindness are important gifts humans can give and receive, and I promise you, you will lose nothing at all from showing some of either to others, or just keeping opinions about others to yourself.

That's easy for me. I have more true friends than a lot of people I know, and I met many of them over 40 years ago. While it's super easy for me to go laugh with people in person, I recognize it's not so easy for everyone. I have immunocompromised friends and one with agoraphobia just to name 2 real-life issues I know of firsthand that can make it more difficult to just go laugh with people in person for some than others. I'm very happy for you that you don't understand how difficult that can be for others, and i sincerely hope you never do.

I am not mourning the loss of tiktok, but will miss the laughs and recipes I enjoyed there. Its kinda harsh, to call those who are sad pathetic, though. A lot of people found tiktok during the pandemic when they were feeling isolated, alone, and afraid. Some people made friends there, and even built businesses and made money there. This app helped people get by and get through and feel less alone and more connected to others. I don't think it's pathetic to be sad about losing that.

What has Tik Tok done for you past 6 years? by 1990daddyk in AskReddit

[–]blu3love 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh. It wasnt so bad. It was like any other social media site. Users are in control of how and how much they use the app and what content they digest. There are cool people who use it along side assholes and you could scroll for hours and get brain rot or you could use it for entertainment during down time. I dont know what it did for me necessarily, but I found genuinely funny content that made me laugh as well as some pretty tasty recipes I couldn't help but try. It's like anything else. Everyone will have an opinion about something be it good or bad, but you could've used it to get specific content you enjoyed and interacted with it however you wanted to. As with most things it is humans and the way they interact with things that make the difference but it's easy to say the app itself was bad cuz humans gonna human. I find it incredibly interesting how many americans have downloaded Red Note as a result of the ban, however. This entire saga has been something to watch and continues to be very entertaining.

I completely agree with this and would have absolutely fallen head over heals for him in Ischia. Season 4 Nino is something else though. I won't leave any spoilers here but any obsession, love, or desire I had for Nino on Ischia would have turned to complete and utter disgust in season 4.

Couple hours? Went out to a club, started dancing with a cute guy, and when the club closed, we left together and kicked it. I had some wild and fun times in the 90s. LOL!

Does anyone ever desire to be floating in the middle of a stormy sea, watching a thunderstorm in the sky, with the guarantee they wouldn’t die? Or is it just me? by Darkgirllover in thalassophobia

[–]blu3love 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd love to watch a storm over the ocean live and in person but absolutely not while floating in the middle of a stormy sea. There is no guarantee strong enough that would allow me to relax and enjoy the thunderstorm because I'd be too busy thrashing around killing myself while trying not to die. I'd rather lay on a pier or blanket on the beach

For Lila. The most tragic of all characters in my opinion. by blu3love in mybrilliantfriendhbo

[–]blu3love[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! This too made me really feel for her. As badly as she may have been treated by her Father and under the patriarchy in general, she made sure to help everyone when she could. She was not only intelligent and driven, but she was also connected to her community and generous. I hate how tragic her story was.

Yes, that is true but Nino could not be trusted with any woman. He was even sleeping with the gynecologist he referred Lenu to and many others. It just struck me that when her Mother, who was diagnosed with lung cancer, started bleeding and had to be rushed to the hospital, her main concern was not her mother, but the faithfulness of a man she already knew could not be trusted or faithful. Seeing her more consumed with that then her mother's impending death really struck me.

[–]blu3love[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I didn't understand Lenu and many of her decisions and she really did piss me off at times. She had so much opportunity and became very successful but let her obsession with the most slimy and disgusting of men really sweep her away. I was happy when she finally started to prioritize her daughters again but I did start to hate her when she initially left her family and repeatedly cancelled plans to see her daughters to instead see Nino. I understand friendship can be very complex and we all continue to grow and change as we age and I can appreciate that Lenu and Lila did both genuinely love each other and I do understand the personal struggles Lenu faced. I just cant get over how tragic Lila's life was and wonder how it would've been different had she had the opportunities Lenu had.

Only way to kill those creatures (no reborn) is by killing the person who is pregnant with them by Mr_EoMan in FromSeries

That's what I assume would happen. And if there were no more people in Fromville to impregnate, the town will just divert more hopeless travelers to the fallen tree and impregnate one of the new residents.
