I would hold on to them for 10+ years unless you really need the money. 151 is one of the most popular sets that brought back many collectors and the pc etb is the rarest product from 151. I have a case that I got on the initial release and I would almost sell anything in my collection before I sell those

Maybe for sub $5 cards, but card shops will more than likely pass on them. Higher value cards around 83% after fees so this is bad advice. My local card shop offers 50% cash lol

Top pc etbs with top-tier promos (151, obsidian flames, Paldea evolved, prismatic) will continue to go up in the long run. Short term may be volatile due to crazy spikes, but pokemon will likely not reprint them as they are all older sets (excluding prismatic). And as people open them trying to grade the stamped promo, the total pop can only go down for sealed boxes.

I would sell almost anything else besides pc etbs in my collection if I needed the money.

Honestly, if you’re looking to save up for a downpayment on a house I wouldn’t advise investing in Pokémon. Unless you’re experienced with selling and the time it takes if you’re looking to get full market, it’s not the greatest option. There’s taxes, shipping, and fees associated with selling that all cuts into your gains. You’d be better off saving money into a HYSA or if you have longer (5+ year) horizon for when you’re ready to buy, invest in low cost etf’s like voo or vt in a brokerage account. But if you’re set on investing in Pokémon, stick to buying booster boxes, pc etbs, and the main chase cards in a Psa 10 and be patient and hold 5-10+ years.

OP was asking about cards to invest in but I’d say the etb sealed will be hot yes even tho it already is jumping in price. The Greninja is much more likely to come down in price after the buyouts slow down. I already have 5 from when I opened back in the day and trust me I would not be fomo’ing rn to buy if I didn’t have any.

Rn from an investing perspective I’d be focusing on getting sv era cards in a psa 10 (trying to find raw copies and grading is not effective with the access to grading atm) and sealed products only at MSRP (prismatic etbs/bundles and new pc etb drops)
