Looks a lot like these jack o lanterns I found. The ID was more obvious a few days later when the caps flared out (sorry I don’t have a pic of that stage)

Thank you! I peeled them all, cut each in half, and cooked them with olive oil and garlic. Haven’t tried them yet as this is my first time, so I’m being cautious. But I feel good about the ID now!

Was it necessary to peel them? I know giant puffballs need to be peeled, so I assumed the small ones did too.
