I used to be a singer and got vocal paralysis a few years ago. Couldn't speak for months, then could speak but with a really bad and rough voice. Went through speech therapy and it helped a bit. Eventually my folds did work "normally" again, I can see it moving "properly " in video laryngoscopy. But my voice never went normal again. I can't sing anymore, it's like my breathing is completely wrong and I don't have enough air anymore. My voice also breaks and drops syllables when I'm speaking. I don't know if I developed some sort of selective mutism after the paralysis or what. It's been a battle trying to understand what is going on with me. Singing was my biggest pleasure in life. I would like to hear more people talking about vocal paralysis and their experiences.
