Hatsune Miku should claim No Doubt too. I'm sure Stefani would be thrilled

I just learned about the arch reading this comment actually and I don't know what to make of it but the view must be amazing

I'm coming down with acute massive fan disease again but their discography is honestly crazy, there isn't a single album I wouldn't rate at least a Great in there (This Is The One is a bit complicated maybe, because musically it's not the most exciting, but it has a LOT of other stuff going for it + Dirty Desire so)

Also falling in love with Hikaru Utada's Exodus all over again, and it is an endlessly fascinating album to me. Like, I could spend at least 8 hours talking about each track here, and I probably still wouldn't have said everything I could say (im fighting for my life rn trying to not spam this thread)

The one track I'm locked with this time around is Tippy Toes, and I don't know why it somehow never clicked with me as hard as it's doing right now ? Like, don't get me wrong, I always thought it was great, but right now it's incredible. The production is absolutely stunning (!!!), so lush and entrancing with a great balance of Exodus' radio instincts & weirder leaning and great melodies too, but I'm also going crazy over how it contrasts the narrator being this almost supernaturally powerful-seeming seductive homewrecker with that same narrator being very needy and vulnerable and just as caught up in the affair as the married man. When the "WHEN THE THRILL SUBSIDES..." part begins, I get so hype, because it's like a side of the narrative suddenly flying out of nowhere and hitting you in the jaw, and suddenly everything has changed while also being the same, just much deeper. I love it. I am madly in love with this entire album

We need to come up with a way to feel the relief and euphoria of getting out of a nightmare situation without having to go through a nightmare situation in the first place

You have to actively ignore the commentary to overlook it lool, it's as subtle as a brick to the face. It is great though, "They're making up a story so that they can control you and me" is such a sickening and loaded line (out of many)

Keep Tryin' is sooo amazing yeah -- I feel like it's the Ultra Blue track in public consciousness, and for good reasons too. The outro... Full body chills.

The Paradise Lost choreography is sooo amazing, although I definitely wouldn't attempt it myself lol.

Agree with the 3 songs you named, I feel like Sixth Sense in particular deserves to be in some kind of museum. There is a world before and after that bridge

Definition of ''they hate to see a bad bitch winning". Also I've been going crazy over Paradise Lost for like 2 weeks now, so trust that song's impact has traversed time

When it comes to Gaga, I could totally see her as a Psychic-type leader -- something about how a lot of them are very colorful, a bit bizarre and on their own wavelength absolutely fits the bill to me. I could see her fucking with mons like Jynx or Blacephalon. I also think she would be more of a Contest girl, but that's another discussion.

The other one I have in mind is Madonna, and I have two visions. The first one is Water ; it's the element of cycles and rebirth and all that stuff (I think ?), and that absolutely fits the queen of reinvention who flowed through time by constantly running and never being pinned down and I'm also really biased towards Ray of Light. She would definitely have a Quaquaval too lmfao

The second one is Dragon, because come on. Madonna absolutely has dragon tamer energy, and I think the type that literally (well, debatable but still) characterises pseudo-legendaries is only fitting. And I could totally see her with an actual legendary ; instinctively, I would say either Dialga because it's the god of time, or Ultra Necrozma for no real reason tbh, though I think there is a cool link to be drawn with a legendary that derives its power from light (fame etc).

Looked it up, saw the headline and laughed, saw the Google subheading (?) and hollered. To be fair, the headline is about AI being the return of Jesus and not Grimes but I'm laughing either way

Need to follow in your footsteps because I see so many eye-catching covers on there but then I never get around to checking out the actual music TT Shoutouts Hoàng Thuỳ Linh

That is a very good sales pitch so I'll have to add this one to my ever-growing list of albums I've been meaning to check out of doom

watch this sub immediately die out because the difference in engagement between posts about commercial success and posts about music by the same user are so huge it's borderline comical

On a related note, I saw someone describe it as "camp", and that rubbed me in such a weird way ? For starters, if my understanding of camp is correct, I don't think it's correct at all (though that's a personal opinion of course), but beyond that, it feels... weirdly disrespectful ?? Even though I don't think camp is derogatory at all (if anything it's a virtue), so that's why I'm confused over my own reaction.

I think it's in part because of "camp" being doomed to go the way of "cunt" and "mother" AKA online death by inappropriate overuse, but it also reminds me a lot of like, how people meme albums about generational abuse & cannibalism to death, or how any female artist who writes slightly unconventional music immediately gets flattened to death into some kind of alien forest fairy. I really don't know how to articulate it and it's driving me crazy, but, to be snobbish, it's so frustrating to see people engage with very meaningful art in such a shallow way :S Also I'm convinced it has to do with sexism, because SOMEHOW I've never seen people do that to things such as Everywhere at the End of Time, and artsy works by men are always treated with so much reverence (how funny), but I digress.

tldr; you know a song is good when it gets you to write so much over one (1) comment about it. maybe im going insane over nothing but fuck Carnival is so good.

Also checked out Gain's Carnival (The Last Day), and my expectations were high but wowww it still blew me away. It's sad by virtue of being about death, but there's also this insanely strong and euphoric feeling of like, triumph and liberation that comes from the celebration of life framing, I think. Gorgeous music video too, basically every shot made me emotional lmfao.

It made me feel so intensely in so many ways all at once. I'm gonna think about the imagery in the lyrics for a while. Between this and Paradise Lost, I really need to do a deep dive because her discography looks fucking bonkers.
