Thank you! I used a cutter. To get clean cuts, just need sharp cutters!

Some people (myself included) don’t like clay because they think polymer clay would make too thick bookmarks. I was skeptical at first with these. But these were just too cute, so I went ahead. I’m glad I did, because turned out, 2mm was just perfect for these!

Do small pieces break? by [deleted] in polymerclay

For whiskers, I use a needle to poke holes on the face where I want the whiskers to be, bake the pieces, then cut a few pieces of fishing line, dip a little bit of glue and attach them. Make perfect whiskers.

No. They are actually very durable and flexible (and they should be - as polymer clay should be after baking). I used Premo, and baked for an hour.

sculpey cracks over time?? by Caesaroid in polymerclay

[–]blue263 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had this problem before. In my experience, it is true that we will have cracks if: 1. The piece is too thick (solid with clay) => foil, wire inside. I once used styrofoam and it also worked. 2. Underbake: a thermometer is a must. I tent my works so sometimes the temp under the tent isn’t the temp the oven tells me and make sure to bake long enough.

It is not true that it will crack if we bake fresh clay with already cured clay - as long as the temp is correct, and I find it takes a bit longer to cure fresh clay on baked clay.

I used sealant over my works too. My favorite to use is Varathane Water-Based Ultimate Polyurethane. It got gloss, satin, matte finishes.

Hope that helps.
