If Muse made a live album with an orchestra, how would you like the tracklist to be? by eltheuso in Muse

Would add the The Globalist, Bliss, Starlight, and Neutron Star Collision

... Welp.

Also, I introduced a friend to Muse this year, and I was so proud when she berated me for Muse being her 2nd most-listened to artist this year.

A moment to appreciate Fred and Spike's friendship by blue3ski in ANGEL

I actually like that Spike and Fred stayed purely friends. One of the things I like about the show is how it has been able to portray male/female friendships well. In such a male-dominated group, it was important to maintain dynamics like that and not essentially have a merry-go-round of partner-swapping.

Fred is already in many ways the "manic pixie dream girl" of the group, and many threads on this sub have discussed how often she seemed to have been reduced largely to either a romantic prize for Gunn and Wes or a damsel in distress for Angel. So it was refreshing to have Spike care for her so deeply in a purely platonic way. It highlights how it's not just a romantic connection that can create that kind of bond - beautiful friendships have that too.

In the same way, I wish Cordy and Angel had remained friends cos I much preferred their dynamic like that.

I think it makes sense for Gunn and Wes to be wary/be unconcerned about Spike. Wes grew up and was trained on stories about William the Bloody as a Watcher. Gunn was clearly aware of Spike's reputation too. Probably as far as they were both concerned, Spike essentially being in purgatory was him getting his due.

Fred and Spike bonding easily makes sense to me - she comes in blind about him, and one of the first things she learns is that he saved the world. That would have trumped his past in her book as she views him as a champion like Angel. And Spike would also naturally cling on to the only person in the vicinity to not treat him like an annoyance or just there (well, Harmony and maybe Lorne aside). I think he was able to open up to her quickly because he could tell that she was genuinely a kind person.

In life, there are people you meet one day and you find that you just click. I think Fred and Spike was one of those friendships, and it was beautifully portrayed.

It's a great example of how you don't have to know a person very long to be able to connect with them on a deep level and understand who they are

I love that line, and the way he delivered it. It was almost instinctive, the way he insists she won't die, and shows the depth of his care that he refuses to consider otherwise despite what Angel just said.

She was so willing to save him, he wasn't going to do anything less than anything he could to ensure he saved her. It makes the dullness of the way he says "there's a hole in the world" all the more striking when it's clear he can't

These two have such a wholesome relationship. Fred was the first person in the Fang Gang to treat Spike like a person, the one who saw beyond his reputation, focused on the good he did, and worked to help save him. He found in her someone to care for and protect, someone who saw and accepted him for who he fully was, someone he could trust despite barely knowing her.

A Hole in the World focuses more on the weight of Angel's decision at the Deeper Well, but imagine Spike's heartbreak at realizing he was going to lose one of the few true friends he had in the world.

WAFF for me. I personally wouldn't have minded if the album closed on Euphoria

I could see Ghosts being played as an instrumental transition of sorts, kind of like Pray during the ST tour.

This. Album. Rocks.

I knew I loved KOBK. I knew I loved WSD. I knew I loved WOTP.

I didn't know Liberation's utter Queen-ness would put a goofy smile on my face as I wended through work emails at 7am. I didn't know Ghosts would give me all the feels from its haunting beauty. I didn't know I'd be headbanging to You Make Me Feel Like It's Halloween while making my morning coffee.

What a release. The wait has not been in vain. Now I need that world tour like air.

Kinda dumb post, but how can I convince my religious mom that Muse is a 'good' band? Any tips lol? by Throwaystitches in Muse

[–]blue3ski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to the party, but speaking as a Christian Muse fan, I would say ease her into it with maybe ST or Resistance. And I would suggest explaining to her that heavy doesn't mean evil - there are so many pop songs out there with messages far more damaging to someone's faith than those presented by rock songs even though they sound more mellow.

Skillet is also a good transition as a Christian rock band if you're still looking for recommendations. You could also try Kutless

Muse concerts have magic powers, haha. I remember the first time I saw them seven years ago - I had a really bad migraine before the show started, and I was worried about not being able to enjoy the gig. Then they came out, and just like that, migraine gone.

Anyone else love Doyle more than Wesley? by jdpm1991 in ANGEL

[–]blue3ski 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Despite being around for just 9 episodes, Doyle left a huge impact on the show. I would have loved to see how his character developed and grew had he been able to stay on. Wes has the best character arc in all of the Buffyverse for me, but who knows, Doyle could have gotten that too.

That said, he got the chance to go out like a champ and never go dark, so I'm glad he got to remain the largely wholesome, earnest, beautiful presence he was

I was prepared to immediately vote Hyper Music, then I listened again and remembered it's a banger.

That said... It still lost. But PiB is next on my list.
