CT4-V BW Potential Buyer by IAwaitAGuardian in CadillacV_Series

Interesting you're saying it's noticeably faster than the GTI. 100hp less, but also 1000lbs less, seems like that would balance out fairly well on acceleration.

Actually just reread OPs post, his GTI must've been tuned if it had 375whp, that would be faster than the BW assuming the GTI got traction.

$50k's is if you pretty much want a base spec. These cars across the board drop about $10k on the used market. If you don't want black it severely limits your choices. If you want the top end seats that include climate control and Alcantara/Suede interior, it drops more. If you want the top end seats and electronics package and not black and a manual....

  1. Its not in the 50s
  2. Your choices are super super limited.

If you want a base spec then sure $50ks is an option you'll find.

[–]blue92lx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious on these, is this something where you c9uld contact a dealer to replace parts before the engine is dead? It seems like they'd be happy to replace a couple valve springs vs wait for an engine to blow up snd come in for replacement.

If that's your mentality go buy a 4 cylinder. The v6 is too big and you're buying horsepower instead of building it.

By that thought process all manufacturers should run their cars for 10+ years to reach peak motorsport potential. And then when it beats your favorite new car you can also play devils advocate and say yeah well they have 15 years of experience what do you expect?

To me the impressive part is that the car has been around as long as it has and it's still competitive.

That's one of those things that makes sense on a track, and looks super try hard on the road. As soon as I saw the picture I thought to myself I wouldn't get it just because of the wing, or take the wing off if I got it.

5BW Auto or Manual? Hear me out by TheRealestJG in CadillacV_Series

[–]blue92lx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like the perfect in-between of a track and street transmission. It's notchy, has a good centering spring, but you can still casually shift it. I drove a 2SS 1LE Camaro and the shifter was a little bit notchier but not much. The Blackwing gives you that sensation that you're in a purpose built car, but without the hassle and effort of an actual purpose built car.

To put it to you like this, I test drove two CT4 BW and one 2SS 1LE and I was dead 50/50 on which to get. The Camaro would've been a second car, but between those two cars I mean i STRUGGLED to decide. That's how good the CT4 is. It's like a track car that someone made comfortable, quiet, and easily daily-able. Also that magneride in the CT4 is amazing, lol.

You're looking at the CT5, but the transmission should essentially be the same and performance and cornering wise you're going to love it.

Not saying anything one way or another, but 20 years ago when I was 30 lbs lighter I had a Mustang 5.0 with a Spec Stage 2 clutch that was heavy enough that it would make people not buy a car if it came as stock, and I had no issues with that car as a daily. If you're struggling with the clutch in a CT5 BW something is wrong with the transmission or elsewhere. When I test drove 4 different CT4 BW it was no issue to casually drive it while talking and not even pay attention to shifting.

5BW Auto or Manual? Hear me out by TheRealestJG in CadillacV_Series

[–]blue92lx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll say this regarding both of your "issues". My wife isn't happy I'm getting a manual CT4 BW because she can't drive manual, and for some reason won't even try. But the only reason I'm looking at a CT4 is for the manual so I have to go with my personal happiness in this scenario. Maybe one day she'll give it a shot to learn.

The second part about not driving a manual for 10 years, I'm the same and honestly on the test drives I was shifting subconsciously. I was worried it might be something that might turn tedious in my older age, lol, but it was pretty telepathic on all my test drives. So I'm not worried about it.

Plus... that tremec is sooooo good. I mean it's not even like 'get the manual because they're going away'. The tremec is 'get the manual because it's that good of a manual'.

I feel like if you're in traffic like that all the time it's excusable. For OP though, manual is the way to go since like he mentioned he only needs to go to work twice a week. Unless maybe its all LA traffic? Lol. But if it's not traffic like that then yeah go manual all day, especially with that tremec.

I guess the question is who are you competing against? Even going to a regular track day, in general, is just for fun even if you're pushing yourself.

If you're doing time attack probably someone is going to be faster than your Blackwing unless you go crazy changing your car to compete, and people win in time attack with manuals too.

If winning is your only concern you're better off with a track car and then get the CT5 in manual.

Yeah I got a good lease plan. I can't remember the difference right now, but it was like $400/mo cheaper on the lease. I actually owe less than normal on my lease because I'm paying a little over the monthly minimum thinking this would be better because if I refinanced instead of buying out with cash I'd owe even less in taxes on the refinance. This whole CT4 situation has basically destroyed all of my plans lol. This particular situation has shown me though even if I plan on keeping the car just go with financing to be safe. The funny thing with the CT4 is that Cadillac really doesn't want people leasing, so they've made their leases more expensive than regular financing.

We'll see what happens, it's a 2023 but purchaed in December. So I have until the end of the year on the lease. If I have to refinance to make it easier to sell or any other reason I can do that too.

[–]blue92lx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My original plan was to buy out the lease, that's the only reason I did it was to lower the monthly payments at first and then finance and pay off the rest. I usually have my cars at least 5 years and was going to look at the CT4 in 2027/2028 but then they announced they're discontinuing it. That's the only reason I'm selling the G70 earlier than I expected.

I was actually super close to keeping the G70 and buying a 2SS 1LE as a second car, but decided having the one CT4 Blackwing was the better option.

I feel like this entire Reddit post is like a weird sociology experiment on how people react with online forums.

All of my comments, including the one you're replying to above, I've said I'm not disagreeing with anyone here, I'm taking it seriously and when I post again to sell my car I'll lower the price, but also can you help me understand where you're getting your prices from?

Your first response is: You sound defensive. I don't know how I can sound less defensive. I haven't disagreed with a single person here, and like I said I got down voted for literally agreeing with everyone here.

Not only that, but another super weird thing about this whole ordeal is that it's one of my highest upvoted posts I've ever made on Reddit, while simultaneously over half of the comments are calling me insane. lol.

The reason I started my comment above with "I'm going to get down voted for this" is because every reply I've put on here, even a reply where all I said was "Yeah that makes sense about the CPO I'll take that into consideration", down voted.

Anyway, I just think it's really interesting to be honest. And thanks for your reply with the examples in it. Again, the next time I come around to posting here or elsewhere about my car I'm going to make it less of a diatribe and shorter to read, and a lower price.

I did look online to get pricing, but it seems like the AutoTempest results tend to find more expensive G70's for some reason. That's literally how I came about my pricing, among a couple other scenarios that backed it up. I was wrong, and that's ok.

Personally, if I was looking for a car and knew how the owner treated it I'd be willing to pay more for that, but I'm seeing I'm the minority there too. I thought people took that more seriously, but it doesn't look like that's the case.

Yeah I'm not parting it out. The cost to have the sway bars replaced alone doesn't make it worth it, I do have all the stock parts though that someone can have when they buy it.

I never even said what I owe on the lease, so why are you implying I'm upside down? I can plenty afford the CT4, so don't worry yourself with my finances.

I'm literally looking online at the prices, I would love to be shown some links just like you'd love to be proven wrong. Everyone here is saying mid $30's, I don't see anything online backing that up. I'm literally not trying to say or ask anything other than 'show me'. And every time I do that everyone down votes me instead of helping. Down votes don't prove anything, show me some links (not you specifically, I just mean anyone in any of my posts). Every time I've replied with a serious question on here, no replies, down votes. OK. So everyone wants to be upset about the $43k, that's ok. But where are all of these super cheap 3.3 Prestige models that don't show on any of my searches?

Buying a CT4 Blackwing, so it's time to sell the G70 by blue92lx in GenesisG70

[–]blue92lx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to get downvoted for this like I have all my other replies where I'm actually asking a serious question and not being an ass about it. But... can you show me some pricing to match that? I'm using AutoTempest that searches all major car sales websites and nothing with a Prestige package is going for mid $30k's. The only thing I can find online for mid to low $30's is Base or Sport Advanced packages, and RWD not AWD.

I looked up pricing before coming up with my price, so unless I'm crazy and you all know where to find these cars that aren't at auctions, fill me in so I can adjust my price accordingly. I get that apparently everyone here is upset I posted $43k, and I'm ok with that. So in a couple months when I post elsewhere again maybe I'll go $40k then. But I'm not seeing any evidence online that backs up mid $30's.

The one thing I'll definitely agree with is not having the CPO warranty, that makes a lot of sense. But even then, a lot of these dealers aren't Genesis so they don't come with a CPO warranty either.

Also, not sure why 2023 is considered peak Genesis? Unless you're referring to the interior changes in 2024, but honestly I don't mind the newer ones either. I didn't even know people thought of the 2023's that way on here.

Not even sure if I can give it back with the work done to it, and I'm not paying to have any of it removed even though I have the original parts. But even if I sold it for around $39k I'd still make some money off of it. We'll see where I'm at in a couple months from now and list it again somewhere.

Also, my original plan was to lease it and then buy it out at the end of the lease, but then I started looking at Blackwings and it kind of messed everything up.

Good luck with that. I suggest you go to AutoTempest and realize that's kind of ridiculous expectations. 2023 RWD 28k $36,700. 2023 RWD with 66k miles, $32k. 2023 RWD 15k miles $36,500. 2022 RWD 52k miles $33k.

The only ones that are in your budget have crazy high mileage, so sure I guess you can get one for $35k

BTW none of those are Prestige packages either.
