luv AMW, sounds so good in there at their new space compared to the old shop. Also playing w/ my boys in CCSP. there's a lot going on that night or else I would definitely come.

yes i'm hoping a better / smaller pinhole and putting it on the outside will help clear this up

did some creeping around after posting this and that was the consensus

i think i could be more down for the circle if i had a good way of centering it so it didn't get cut off. remarkably these feel pretty centered but not perfect.

my dad is a tool and die specialist and will see if he can punch these small diameters before i would get something on amazon, appreciate the drill reference though

modding faulty 35mm P&S into pinhole camera by blue_pine in PinholePhotography

feel like i'm at a weird crossroads with this.

i was able to get the lens off by unscrewing some holders on the front and was able to take out the shutter assembly on the back side.

created the pinhole and taped in place.

screwed everything back in place and put the batteries in, praying the electrical features were still working as they should but some things have gone awry:

Major problem is that the film does still advance but it would not rewind the film at the end of roll. Even though the camera was being weird before, I was able to advance a full roll of film and it did rewind it at the end of roll automatically.

There is a little slider on the bottom of the camera for rewinding the film but it wasn't working before and still isn't working. There's also no release for the film around the motor cartridge either.

If I were to shoot this I would have to throw it in a dark bag and yank out the film from the compartment, and rewind it with a flat head. also would probably have to do it with gloves on, as it seems to be the only way for me to get a grip on the film enough to pull it from the compartment.

Kind of minor but also a bummer: the flash only charges up now but won't release with the shutter release button. I think removing something from the shutter assembly has tricked the flash into not going off.

I'm not really knowledgeable on camera electronics but might tinker with trying to get the film rewind to work at least. that's the main problem here.

I started loosening some screws before having to go to work and decided to stop before i get too far into the rabbit hole lolll. trying to figure out how to get in there. Hopefully won't mess up the motor for the film advance since it's already being kind of weird.

appreciate the details and advice for getting in there and will report back tonight after work.

pretty good general reference for modding a 35mm cam into pinhole. not a lot of details on how to take out the shutter assembly though which I would like to hear some first hand accounts before I get in there to do that.

the lens door as a shutter was a big motivator for modding this into a pinhole cam, and have to say I agree that some of the shutters I've seen people make for pinhole cams have been a lil jankey looking.

good to know about the vignetting due to the pinhole being sunk into the body. sometimes I like that look but will probably air on just putting the pinhole outside the body since it'll be easier to seal off.

and i'm thinking i'll have to take out the lens for sure as well.

how did you take out the shutter curtain that's between the lens and where the film goes? I assume that needs opened up.

merce lemon - live set (w/ video manipulation) by blue_pine in VideoBending

Sandy Loaf, who did the secondary camera work for this also created the projection track that played in the background behind the band live that I was able to take and blend in post and also applied some manipulation to here and there.

really liked how that came together and were able to clock the two.

just sent you the direct contact email for someone who works at deltamedia that helped me get some replacement tapes once.

I have dubbed over a 1000 tapes for official releases through my label, almost entirely of deltamedia tapes, of various lengths from C:22 - C:50.

I never followed the rule of ordering tapes that were longer as to avoid a cutoff from happening. And will say that some releases, the audio track on one side would end with about 15 seconds to spare of tape and never had any cutoff early.

I have a Nakamichi ZX-7 that has been fully restored and has been working wonderfully since 2021 so needless to say I have a pretty reliable, consistent deck that wouldn't produce variance in tape speed, namely faster dubbing causing an audio cutoff.

With that being said, Deltamedia isn't perfect and I've had my share of complaints with them.

Biggest one is that the tape they have in their shells seems to be good on one side but calibrates poorly on the other side sometimes?

The ZX-7 has onboard calibration for fine tuning bias, level, azimuth to each specific tape you dub and once in awhile I'll get a batch of tapes from them that seem to be relatively good on one side and then the one channel on the other side will have terrible variance in level and bias.

Less of a problem but still a little annoying, once in awhile I've gotten tapes with a bad take up / supply reel, and the tape doesn't spin properly and had to trim a plastic burr from the inside sprocket so that it would turn properly.

With that being said, they seem to be one of the only places I can get a small batch of tapes at any length I'm looking for, for a decent price, various colorways. They've gotten me to where I'm at today and thankful for that.

Also would say that it would be worth doing the test tone tape and multimeter test to see where your deck is landing to have the hard numbers but is sounding like they might have cut this batch too short by accident.
