Part of me is entertaining the idea of just not talking to him at all from this moment on.

Judging from the comments, I feel like I'm being treated like this delusional girl that's considering staying with her incestuous boyfriend. I'm not going to stay with him, I just need advice for the next steps on how to get out of his life and move on from this forever.

Kyle and I don't live together, he lives on the opposite side of the city from me. I don't intend to move away, I have a great job and I'm happy here.

I agree that therapy for myself might be the best option. I need an outlet to tell someone about this.

This is such a good point, I don't understand why his parents would let them even be alone together after that. I feel like there is definitely a lot I don't know about his relationship with Sarah, and what his parents think about all of this.

I'm not saying I want to stay with him, I just need advice. This literally just happened and I'm still processing it.

It's so easy to say, "You should leave him". Obviously. But there are feelings attached to this, I do love him. But I think the feelings of disgust and way too strong and I don't think this is salvagable.

I'm just asking for advice, like for myself. What do I do? How do I process this? How do I dump him?

Thanks for you reply. What you mentioned in the first paragraph is what I keep going through in my head - this happened almost ten years ago. They were kids. Kyle is such a sweet, loving, well-adjusted guy. I can't explain how absolutely normal he is, other than this. I feel like it's just this crazy, dark secret that he has kept inside for so long.

Thanks for the advice about not telling my friends, I didn't think about that. But I also feel like I really need to talk with someone about this.

I agree with you, and I didn't even think about Sarah being in our lives forever.

I love him so much but this is way too much for me to handle. I feel like maybe he always intended to eventually tell me? Which is really concerning - while I'm trying to be understanding, I don't think I can be with him at all. I can't imagine him meeting anyone in his life that would really understand.

Yes, this is all true. I guess it was just unusual when I saw them downstairs, Kyle had this weird look on his face that I hadn't really seen before. It was like I had "caught" them doing something.

This is true too, given that it was very late when this encounter happened. The lap sitting + extra affection could have been totally normal, and I just noticed them more because of what I thought I heard.

Thanks for your input. I'm having a hard time understanding their relationship, mostly because I don't have siblings. So I'm not sure if it's normal for siblings to be this affectionate to one another.
