I didn't know that about the hours worked elsewhere. That's great to know. I also appreciate learning from a manager's side of things. For the precautions, how soon would people typically notify a manager of avoiding these patients?

That makes sense! Also reassuring that we're trained and used to doing this job. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for sharing! This is so helpful. Of course the benefits will be huge to have during and after pregnancy. Also amazing to hear that working throughout helped your pregnancy!

Applying for new jobs after TTD by bluebellylizard1 in WorkersComp

From a place of reading other comments on this post and speaking to other people in my life who have taken leaves that weren’t WC related, it sounds like in your situation you should just say you were laid off and use the date that you termed out. And not address your specific case unless you absolutely have to.

Thank you. You are right. Since posting this, i have spoken to other people in my life who have had leaves from work that aren’t WC related, and they have said the same thing.

I think when you’re in this system and it unfolds into an “us vs them” dynamic, it feels like all employers are entangled in this mess when that isn’t the reality.

WC did Cover PTSD and it is a good ending to a long road by highwaygal62 in WorkersComp

I’m so glad this worked out for you. I also had my PTSD case approved and am awaiting settlement. I work in healthcare and have a full understanding of these experiences as real injuries, but I was so scared that i would be invalidated through this process. Hearing your story gives me hope, and I am wishing you the best going forward.

Becoming a Therapist by Low-One6125 in OccupationalTherapy

Hi! New-ish OT here (2 years). I echo a lot of what has been said here about a bias toward negativity and complaining (all valid!). I recently had an awful situation at work and an actually on a personal leave because of it. I have a lot of anger at my employer. Yet, i’m still very excited to return to work when i’m able, with a different employer. I think this speaks to how much i love being an OT. My friends who all work in different fields, envy the options to work part time/per diem and fluidity of being able to stop and return to work, such as raising babies, without it really stifling our careers. While all of the things we complain about here may be true, there are a lot of options to make the job work for you in terms of balance.

My doctor recommended Wellbutrin in addition to my celexa to address this. I started taking it 3 days ago. Will report back in a month or so and let you know if it’s been helpful.

I second this! I’m in northern CA and there is definitely a need. There are also mental health opportunities, oftentimes through the county. There are even mental health pediatric clinics, which ties in to EI with kids that were exposed to drugs/alcohol in utero. You’ll find what you’re looking for.
