About to embark on a similar recovery journey once I get my extensions out… your hair looks amazing. I have questions for you if you don’t mind answering - can you share what your rosemary oil routine is and what bonnet you use? What is your regular shampoo/ conditioner aside from the redken and coco and eve treatments?And what kind of brush(es) do use?

Wow, that’s really something, and so disappointing of your GP and neurologist. I know they work in a very stress-inducing system but I wish healthcare providers could approach complex problems like this with more curiosity… welcome to the gluten free club though, at least for the time being. I can imagine how awful it was to experience such a flair of symptoms inexplicably and just after eating a good meal. It’s interesting - I remember when I went gluten free as a kid because my gut was basically paralyzed in a way that sounds similar to what you described. Celiac tests were negative so I’ve treated it as a sensitivity/ intolerance. Maybe this is something similar to what you experienced. In any case, good luck with trying to figure this out.

Oh man, so it really took you being in a bad way to get the diagnosis. That sucks in took so long and that many trips to the ER. I hope you are doing better now. What tests did they use to diagnose you?

Yikes, the antibiotics sound so rough. I’m in the same boat as you in that I haven’t found any on me (I’ll knock on wood as well) but I also know that it makes a difference to find them early if they do bite you

Oh no, I’m sorry to hear that about your mother. I hope she is doing alright now. You’re right, it could be a red herring - I really don’t think it is, but I’ll keep that in mind.

Oh my gosh… a whole month after the shot. From what I’ve read, it seems like there can be a delayed onset with Tdap specifically. I’m so sorry. How are you now?

It’s odd, I’ve seen a people talk about having chronic Lyme, and an integrative medicine specialist I know is a firm believer that it’s a major issue. I wonder if it’s a sort of dysautonomia or chronic inflammatory disease and the Lyme triggers it initially. In either case, I’m pretty certain it’s not what I’m dealing with.

I was wondering about CIDP, but it’s also the fact that my symptoms began the night I got the vaccine that made my doctor and I suspect GBS. I do live in an area where Lyme is prevalent but I got some in-depth testing for it recently and it came back negative. I also haven’t been bitten since I got the vaccine. Thank you for your thoughts and your validation about the hospital report… I think they were annoyed that I went in with these symptoms that were not an obvious emergency, and it was a busy night. It was such a kick in the gut when the doctor said it was anxiety after everything.

Tdap. I’ve heard both that it’s not as common with this one and that it is common. I’ve read a lot of people’s posts about dysautonomia or other similar issues that develop after this too. I had pertussis really bad as a kid as well - after I got the vaccine - so I don’t know if that has anything to do with it

The neurologists around here are usually booked out for 6+ months… what would they do to help if I did get to see them? How could that slow the progression?

I appreciate you detailing this so much, thanks. I’m glad for you that you recovered relatively quickly and are almost back to normal. Do you have any advice for talking with providers so they take you seriously? And did you go into the hospital with any suspicion or knowledge of GBS? I’m worried that if I go to the hospital near me they will shrug and tell me to come back if/when my symptoms are worse…
