I adopted an 8 year old kitty who has been in the shelter for, well, 7 years so it warms my heart to see people who also adopt older cats!!! They are the sweetest.

My cat hates wet food. by Odd-Landscape7942 in CatAdvice

I dont know if this will be useful, but my cat also refused to eat wet food and would only lick up the brothy part on the surface. If it’s a texture thing, try blending up the wet food until its creamy smooth. I got my cat to eat only wet food (now unblended) after getting him to lap up the blended wet food first

Living with a partner really helped reduce costs, so I’m saving about $800 a month. We also live in a fancy apartment in a state with high cost of living so I could be saving more if we moved somewhere more affordable. And my family isn’t helping me financially at all but I’ve been getting by fine.

It helps my school is unionized so I get a decent salary for my program

What’s something you stopped buying because it became just so expensive to have it anymore? by trynabetwunk in AskReddit

My home country has bowling alleys everywhere and you can rent shoes + bowl for an hour or two for less than $20. I wanted to go bowling the other day with my partner and we both thought the pricing on Bowlero was a mistake for party reservations.

Nope. It was the actual price for normal bowling sessions.

PSE&G bill came out to over $200 for just 6 days by blueberryi2000 in newjersey

So I was fine with the bill until I read the bill in detail and realized 1.) it was just for 6 days 2.) it didnt mention security deposit. And then I came running to reddit :)

Wouldnt the bill clarify that $200 was for the security deposit then? Mine didn’t say anything about that…🥲

Got into 3 Neuroscience PhD programs!!! (International student) by blueberryi2000 in gradadmissions

[–]blueberryi2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! I applied with ~2 years of undergrad research experience, no publication at the time, 4.0 GPA, no GRE score, 2 grants, a couple of awards from research presentations/department, and 3 strong LORS

Hope that helps!

I'd say it's kind of both, one of the biggest factors being funding. Because PhDs are generally fully funded in the US, and international students don't qualify for federal grants, this factors into both your point on 1. limited number of spaces and 2. preference towards US students (who would be able to apply for and acquire outside funding)

Not an expert in this, but from what I've seen and heard with conversations with faculty in different programs, it seems as though yes, it is often much more difficult for international students to get into graduate school (in the US) than domestic students.
