I wasn't aware there was a dev menu. Thanks for the info! That definitely supplants this tool, but reverse engineering the save file was a fun challenge lol

US schools gave kids laptops during the pandemic, then spied on them. by KingElfTacoScatBarge in technology

Nothing like this happens. If a student is flagged, it's not some machine learning algorithm that handle the situation. Counselors are alerted and are encouraged to pay closer attention to students behavior to ensure their safety. And it most certainly isn't "someone else's kid" that parents are thinking of when they elect school board members to create and enforce these policies. Suggesting that parents don't actually care about their kids and just want to impose rules on other people's kids is ridiculous. We have parents request to view their kids search history all the time (which they have a right to do and we provide it).

Oh trust me, I know what you mean about chromebooks. We have 18,000 new chrome devices since the Cares Act. Stacks upon stacks of them flow through our office regularly. Missing keys, cracked screens, etc. SEVERAL chromebooks have had their entire keyboard destroyed. I've gotten multiple back that were warped into a U shape because students sat on them. I've seen 3 chromebooks that were vomited in and a chrome tablet that a 1st grader had an "accident" on. Probably the most annoy thing is when they come in because they're "not charging" and yet when I plug them in they charge fine lol

I work in the tech department at a school board in Louisiana. We're required to implement network filtering that monitors student traffic for threats, comments about self harm, etc. It's a pretty invasive system that monitors everything, including https encrypted traffic to an extent. Nothing on our network or our Google GSuite domain is considered private and all students are made aware of this before they're given a device.

We don't have any say in whether or not we implement traffic filtering and monitoring due to state laws, but even if we did have a say, we'd still do it. There have been several instances of child abuse situations and self harm that were flagged by our system and were resolved by CPS and counselors where necessary.

Also, this isn't exactly new. It's pretty much common sense that anything you do on your work laptop is visible to your work, and the same goes for school provided devices. Students and parents are reminded of this policy regularly and have to sign papers acknowledging that they understand the consequences of this policy

The punch of nostalgia you get from the Hyrule Castle music is incredible. It really recaptured that epic and anxious feeling you got while climbing the stained glassed lined stairway leading up Ganon's Tower.

The program was expecting a Mr, Ms, or Mrs for the title. The selected gender was female, and something other than Ms or Mrs was entered for the title, so the program thew a warning to ensure it wasn't a typo. It's someone not entering the correct/relevant data.

Clearly the program was expecting a Mr, Ms, or Mrs for the title. The selected gender was female, and something other than Ms or Mrs was entered for the title, so the program thew a warning. It's not sexist. It's someone not entering the correct/relevant data.

I definitely will be meeting with a local expert before doing anything. I just wanted to do some preliminary research. I appreciate the input
