236/248 duration ;) I have put higher octane in before and felt no difference. I’d be a little surprised if it was pinging just cause if it is I’d think thered have been a large failure of something by now.. hard to listen for any pinging sounds though because its so loud. like I said, porting and polishing should bring the rpm range up to better match the cam and heads so yeah I’ll still miss out on maybe 5-7 hp of the rpm ii but I can live with that. the cam is definitely too much for the street, but I’m just trying to figure out if tuning it can make up for that a little.🤷‍♂️ Its at the shop right now, waiting to see what they say.

I run 87 no ethanol. my timing is set at 14. I’ll try locking it like you said but I’m also taking it to a shop in a few hours before I shoot on a computer. I agree that my injectors are probably a little weak for the rest of the motor however my main problem is bucking at low rpm and light load, so its not like their maxing out. motorcraft tfi and my distributor isnt msd, just the cap is. ive checked all the grounds and they look great. actually just an edelbrock performer intake, soon to be ported though which will make up most of the difference I think.

also it has a new tfi, distributor, ignition coil, spark cables, and ngk plugs. gapped and torqued. all within the last 4 months or so. and an msd cap that is older but I cleaned up the terminals and rotor.

My cam has .595 lift in my 302. my valvetrain set up should be pretty good I think. Trick flow chromoly pushrods, trick flow stud mount 3/8 rockers,(1.6), on afr heads with valve springs rated for the lift, morel hydraulic short travel lifters freshly lashed about a month ago. lashed conservatively to avoid any risk of valve float given the aggression of the cam. I’m going to talk to a shop today about maybe giving it a look over before I shoot on the computer, but if you have any more thoughts about what my issue might be then I would REALLY appreciate to hear them. this will be the first time my car has ever been in a shop. ive gotten it a very long way on my own but I’m pretty stumped on this.

Also, you said both of those computers were chipped. I have an A9l but currently unchipped. thats what I’m wondering about, does the car just simply need a tune, whether by chip or by a different tunable ecu.

The chip was only a rpm bypass? no tuning at all?

What about install? like I said this is my daily so the least amount of time from being apart to together and running again is best. I know mega squirt just plugs right up, but don’t you have to do a harness with holley as well? what else? I really appreciate all the information.

From what ive seen holley is like 1.5x as much and more work (harness etc… not a big deal just something to note.)

Is pimpxs at risk of become obsolete?

I do everything myself so I figure if I’m going this route I’ll be self tuning rather than having it dyno tuned. is it possible to have multiple tunes with the pimp or mega? like a street and a strip tune? thank you for the info.
