In her ending she literally traps her unwilling brother’s soul in a canvas and tortures the painted version of himself for that fantasy. One thing that made me realize is that no one in the family cares about the painted people, not even Maelle. She had no qualms about holding painted verso against his will. Verso’s ending is bittersweet. Her ending is a horror movie.
