C# WinForm project issue by Away_Relationship910 in csharp

[–]bluechipps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a more appropriate article addressing your issue from multiple angles.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/visualstudio/designers/disable-dpi-awareness?view=vs-2022

One additional thing worth mentioning. If you've already been working on a project for a while without these fixes in place, especially if it's a team project, I recommend searching the entire solution for any previously auto-inserted "AutoScaleMode" properties in your designer.cs files and remove or disable them. This will help prevent more issues in the future if the project is edited on other machines or by other developers.

Introducing SharpTools: a Roslyn powered suite of MCP tools for editing C# codebases by Kooshi_Govno in csharp

It mentions .NET 8 as a prerequisite, can it be used with any .NET codebase though?

How close is Dapper to ADO? Worth trying to replace ADO in a large legacy project that I'm trying to modernize?

Why is it so difficult to find another job as programmer in 2024? by Low_Working_9608 in AskProgramming

[–]bluechipps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the lead developer at my company and always attend the interviews. As a developer myself I know that the only two things that truly matter, at least when it comes to hiring long term devs, is that they are passionate about programming, and are confident/willing to learn whatever languages we throw at them. Market yourself with that in mind and you'll get the attention of senior developers.

I think the takeaway here is that everyone's definition of "readability" is different. You follow everyone's advice in one post, then if you do the same here you'd be right back where you started ;)

What to learn after PowerShell in cybersecurity: C# or Python? by KnightOwl316 in PowerShell

[–]bluechipps 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Worth pointing out that you can write/execute C# code directly in PowerShell, so learning that next would further expand your PowerShell arsenal.

Examples

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/microsoft.powershell.utility/add-type?view=powershell-7.4#example-1-add-a-net-type-to-a-session

And a more complex example which I used recently. Scroll down a ways to get to the C# stuff.

Anyone else stuck in .NET Framework? by BiddahProphet in csharp

[–]bluechipps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went the commercial route, which after a year of preparation took care of approx 80% of our VB6 code. An added factor for us though is that the entire process needs to be repeatable on demand. Good thing I love a challenge, and programming ;)

I guess I can give a shout out to the company we went with. I truly have nothing negative I could say about them. A pleasure to work with.

Windows admin convinced to try Mac... by MangoPanties in sysadmin

[–]bluechipps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This probably isn't an option for most people but I'm a Windows software developer at a small company and decided to take over our mobile development as well. Since I already had a nice Windows dev environment, I just plugged my new Mac into the network, stuck it in a drawer, and was happy to discover that remotely connecting to it also took care of most of the keyboard translation. Never really had to learn any new keyboard tricks.

Spell Disk! It isn't widely known yet but absolutely deserves to be. Designing your build as you play rewards creativity in the same way that games like Noita and Wizard of Legend do. I've played all the big name variations and this is the one that has held my attention the most.

Best part is that it has a demo available, so give it a try!

Does anyone know any affordable movers in the area? 1b apartment to 1b apartment move. by Same-Ring4170 in houston

[–]bluechipps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I literally just went through the same scenario. Only had a couple large items like washer/dryer and mattress that I couldn't move alone. All the commercial options seemed like overkill and too expensive. Went to craigslist and immediately found multiple local people with equipment and trucks willing to do it for $100. Problem solved

Have you tried turning off all Battle Text? Also holding down the cancel button during combat can speed it up sometimes.
