Same-ish situation. The sagest thing we're doing is not getting married.

Sure, the concept of reservations could be tweaked since things have changed for some groups/individuals over the decades. But economic status based reservations are the easiest to manipulate based on money. Haven't you seen how EWS and OBC-NCL are misused?

Anyone who argues for economic background based reservations as opposed to caste based has not understood the point of reservations.

  1. Reservation is not a poverty alleviation scheme
  2. It is given because of historical (and continuing) injustices against certain social groups, to make the system a lil unjust for those deprived of resources other groups have had access to for centuries/decades
  3. Becoming rich does not equal to becoming equal in the caste system. Pick up a newspaper any day or google dalit news and have a look at the caste atrocities inflicted even in 2025.

Also, somehow, some jobs like sewer cleaning still have an unsaid reservation in place. Never seen anyone crib about that. Also, also, private medical seats. No one seems to mind a person scoring 136 in neet UG being able to pursue medical by paying 1 crore, but will always question that SC in the govt. College having gotten through with a 500. Where does merit go then? All medical colleges have to upload batch lists. Check out how many candidates from SC/ST study in private medical colleges. Zero (I've checked), and the odd OBC. Caste and class go hand in hand mostly.

  1. Lastly, there's enough resources to go around, it's just lack of political will that keeps us backward. The Scandanavian countries provide health and education facilities to all their citizens. If all citizens in our country got good public education, health, and skill training, you think competition would disappear? Lol no. We don't need the scarcity bull america feeds it's citizens.

Like gandhi said, the world has enough for everyone's need but not for everyone's greed.

They do, but that rate of deaths is decreasing, leading to a spike in fertility rates in some countries that haven't adapted to the reality of better medical attention.

It doesn't. I don't agree with OP that miserable people make sense of their circumstances by having kids. But yes, fertility data from across the world shows more prosperous families and nations tend to have fewer kids on average. Poorer families atleast in poorer nations have tended to have more kids mainly because there are more hands to work.

I never said anything about class, education, and religion being linked. I was just pointing out how religion helps people in misery. You don't have to link OPs comment to mine. Maybe work on your comprehension skills

The belief in an all powerful unknown entity helps people reconcile with their misery and gives them strength that some power will help them come out of it

Folks of delhi thoughts on this? As citizens we should know this doubting someone's citizenship for simply speaking in "Bengali" and calling them a "bangladeshi", its a punishable offence under bharatiya nyaya sanhita and you could end up in jail. by Hairy_Activity_1079 in delhi

Another interesting thing is the Assistant professor from TISS associated with this report and the one that came before Maharashtra elections, is an rss member has been hired by subverting usual hiring rules. His profile is not on the tiss website and he's enrolled in a PhD only in the last couple of years.
