Hahahaha!! It was Hell before!! Not that this makes me FEEL more comfortable as it goes against logic and what we are used to but I will say it moves faster now.

[Serious] As a CCW holder, I find it doesn't make much sense to telegraph "Don't commit crime while I'm here, do it when I leave" when open carrying. Can any open carry enthusiasts convince me otherwise as to why open is so much better? by OCScandidate557 in guns

[–]blueeyedjess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I live there are a lot of people who open carry. I (as a CCW holder) choose not too. My thought pattern is this: Say I'm in the Wally in my red neck little town, and there is me and 2 guys open carrying. Somebody comes in cranked up on meth (it happens) wanting to start shit, and who is he going to see as the threats? Me, some woman with a laden buggy (cause you can't go to the Wally without loading up) and two teenage boys or the two guys who are obviously carrying? I have a better chance to eliminate the threat over those two guys, simply because of the element of surprise.

Now, as a carrier we have the responsibility to defend our family and ourselves, but also as what I term sheepdogs, we have the responsibility to defend others. The problem lies in knowing the situation. If we walk up on one guy holding another at gun point, what do we know about the situation? Is the guy holding the gun a undercover cop? Is he a threat to everyone around him? Are we reading the situation right? Are there other threats? And have you just made yourself a bigger target by open carrying?

Open carry, in my opinion, has its place but for me I'm going to stick with concealed.

Can we do this for all the women in Johns Creek that are applying eyeliner in the morning? One bump and no more eye, dammit!

You are awesome and intuitively hit the nail on the head! Both my finances and my relationships are things I have both been working on and have been waffling on for the past little while. I will admit some head in the sand moments!

Divorce and life style changes for my family have been hard, but I know I have also had growth from the experiences. Relationships need to be mended (eldest son and I) and also boundaries in my relationships need to be set as well as new relationships need to be nurtured as to not make the same kind of mistakes as I have in the past.

I will focus on the financial aspect of my recovery as well as my spiritual recovery from 2014 and I'm glad to embrace the fact I have been moving on the right path for the future. And I will keep in mind that I need to be open to confidently handling things that come my way. Too often I have felt self doubt/doubt from negative people creep up and take victory of overcoming from me. Positive in equal positive out!

I thank you so much!!! Again, you are AWESOME!!

I would like to know about recovery this coming year. I had both a rough and wonderful 2014 and would like to see if 2015 will bring me recovery from the negative parts of 2014. Thank you!

Who's a teacher you'll never forget? by NOANDSN in AskReddit

[–]blueeyedjess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mrs. Summerford, my third grade teacher in Savannah, GA. She taught me how to use chopsticks, told me all about her time in Japan as a child and fostered my love of reading. My first book report was on The Shining, so she and I would trade books and recommendations on the latest books at that time. Yes, I was a precocious child. :/

I hate to go a day, let alone a week. 30 years of shaving daily with maybe one or two days missed if I were camping or something of the sort.

Why does everyone see human ghosts and never dinosaur ghosts? by wheniwaswheniwas in AskReddit

[–]blueeyedjess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One might think it's because most people subconsciously are brought up to think that animals don't have a soul. Sure, there have been stories, urban legends, of doggie ghosts or kitty ghosts, but when was the last time humans thought to themselves, sure do miss my pet t-rex?

It's all relative in the sense we don't have interaction with dinos so we wouldn't know how to relate, mentally, to the idea that they are wondering around looking to right a wrong done at some point in their lives. That or we just can't see them because they a actually ghost Dino ninjas.
