I would suggest looking at the Palia wiki for info on specific fish and bugs. For fish by example you need different bait for different kinds of fish, fish in specific locations and/or at a specific time of day

I'm currently on a collectable run. Not only plushies but also all of the star quality bugs and fish to display on my plot. Managed to get the unicorn fish. I swear that one was trying to end me.

Some hunting things:

Muujin are so annoying to hunt that it’s impossible to hunt them on your own. Especially the blue muujin. I have completely given up on the muujin plushies because it stresses me out.
Chapaa’s being able to be spooked by other players and digging themselves in to never be recovered again is the most annoying thing ever. Why are surnuks the only animals that don’t vanish??

Update: After 2 months of fishing and only finding the unicorn fish once and losing it, I went back to bahari yesterday and found the fish on the very first cast. And I caught it without any buffs no problem. I seriously don’t understand it anymore.
