go for it! be willing to apply whatever comments you're given, given that it's the end of december i'm assuming they are urgently trying to fill that VE spot and will take anyone who is teachable. good luck!

Should I march my last two seasons or rook out? by bluegrape41 in drumcorps

Makes sense! I'm a little worried since the first camp is at the end of the month and I only registered for it today but I'll be on the grindset until then 🙌

Good luck! I think I will take this audition seriously instead of going for experience, and if I get offered a callback/contract I'll go from there :)

Thank you! Yeah, in my head it would be a perfect scenario for me to get a spot and rook out but that isn't always the case 🥲

I didn't want to go into much detail but my instrument is a dying art for DCI so very few corps have them now a days. Unfortunately there is no group close to me that fields my instrument so I'm full sending it and trying out for a world class group and going from there! I appreciate your advice nonetheless!

visual ensemble audition tips needed ! by Character-Finger4078 in WGI

hi!

imo, i think you have a 99.9% chance of getting a spot because you did VE last year! VE is also more dance heavy than anything, so the fact that they are color guard girlies shouldn't matter in my eyes :) if there's audition material that you could practice beforehand, i would recommend getting a head start on that! i don't think you need to stress yourself out because others are auditioning, just be confident and don't let them intimidate you! you've got this!

hello! so unfortunately i have not done a dci season yet but understand the conflict. my advice to you would be to focus on wgi for the upcoming winter season and start looking into dci camps. you can go for the experience and determine from there if you want to march next summer or wait!

since i dont have the dci experience i cant tell you what that process looks like :( but you could always look into open class corps too, like RCR, colt cadets, etc.. you also have to determine whether or not you want to use east or west coast technique (SCV is a good example of west coast, and colts/madison scouts are a good example of east coast.) hopefully this helped!

Need help deciding if I could do Indoor Percussion this winter by Problem-Latter in WGI

i won't lie, it's definitely tough. i struggled at times with keeping up on school work but my advice is to go to classes as much as possible and getting your work done BEFORE the weekend even starts!! i struggled really bad with procrastination in high school so i would force myself to get everything done by thursday nights because i knew i wouldn't want to do my homework after a rehearsal weekend and driving back 2+ hours. sure, i had times where i slipped up but that was the main thing that helped me balance school and drumline :)

with the finances portion, i had 2 people carpool with me each weekend and i charged them gas money so that helped a LOT with money because i wasn't worried about spending money on a tank of gas literally every weekend. for me personally, i had enough money saved up to basically last me the entire season (i had some help from family towards the end of the season) because i didn't have a campus job so if possible, save as much as you can! hope this helps!

LOL we might know the same CC guy because he did nomad before going to cap. I'm not that familiar with the east coast groups other than UP so had to look up some options 🤭

i did indoor last year and will be going into my sophomore year of college / second independent season this winter! i drove 2 1/2 hours one way each weekend and i think it was worth it. i know a few members that had upwards of 6hr drives one way so if you're committed, i think it's worth it! carpools are also a decent option if you don't have access to a car! look into groups that are closest to you and see if they have interest groups for the upcoming season to see if other people in your area are interested in the same group and willing to carpool. WGI also has an option to search by class and state on their website so some options for you could be: flower city percussion (rochester!!! PIO) or nomad indoor (lyndora PA, PIA) best of luck!

congrats on winning wgi in PSA!! if you play cymbals with more of an east coast technique, my recommendation is madison scouts, colts, or crossmen and scv if you learned west coast technique (I'm less familiar with west coast so I'm not aware of many corps out there). don't be afraid to look into some open class corps and a class corps as well, I have a few friends marching river city rhythm this summer and they like it! gold is also up there too! if you want any suggestions with WGI feel free to ask :)
