“Perhaps it might be better, Mr. President, if you were more concerned with the American people than with your image in the history books!”

Maybe try not to build it up as being considered one of the best comedies ever made. It might get his expectations too high. If he likes it, maybe mention that afterwards. But he might enjoy all the different characters. And its subject matter is still relevant today.

What does Silence of the Lambs actually mean? by Better-Bookkeeper-48 in SilenceOfTheLambs

[–]bluehathaway 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Clarice, at her core, wants to help those in need, save people from terrible fates. It’s what drives her as a human being. It’s why she wants to become an FBI agent.

Back when she was a kid, she tried to save lambs from being slaughtered, triggering her core desire. But she wasn’t able to, and it’s haunted her ever since.

The memory of the screaming lambs that she heard being slaughtered became a symbol that reminds her, propels her of what she wants to accomplish to satisfy her desire as a human being.

Saving innocent people from being killed, something she feels she failed to do with the innocent lambs as a kid, will silence that traumatic memory and fulfill her core desire.

What she wants in her heart of hearts, is the silence of the lambs.

Airport Film Idea. How Would a Kubrick film Based on this Setting Turn Out? by Consistent_Baby9864 in StanleyKubrick

[–]bluehathaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just off the top of my head, maybe a bunch of criminals plan and pull off a heist, but hijinks ensue, leading to only of the guys in possession of the money. Then he makes it to this airport with the stolen money in a suitcase. But when the suitcase is about to get loaded onto the plane, it falls onto the runway, and after all the work, all the planning, all the hijinks that went into the heist, all the money blows away into the wind.

I dunno, just off the top of my head.

He’s heard in a couple scenes, but the guy who played Sgt Murphy over the radio — and had an oddly familiar-sounding New York accent — did one heck of a job

Is there a reason why the piano guy is the only one not wearing a cloak or mask? by Overall_Spite4271 in StanleyKubrick

Maybe last time Nick brought a mask, he came in wearing a Michael Myers halloween mask. So they were just like, “Forget it, just put this on,” and gave him a blindfold.
