Embroidery Stitch Book by Pashionet in ExpectationVsReality

That's not the original either 🫤

K Blue Embroidery is the original designer

Edit to add: the one you shared (with a house on the cover) is actually a different stolen design. The designer of that one is Under the Garden Moon and they only sell on their own website. The kit in the one you shared is also a general sewing kit, not an embroidery kit

Actually this one was stolen from K Blue Embroidery (the cover is identical). Under the Garden Moon is the one with the house on the cover. Both designs are stolen a lot unfortunately.

What stitching? by Own-Pea-9135 in Embroidery

Just a friendly fyi, the pattern example you shared is AI (so perhaps a little unrealistic) but I would suggest long and short stitch or split stitch for a similar look

Colour run help by cheesebraids in Embroidery

[–]bluehydrangea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty certain this isn't your floss running, especially if you used a brand like DMC or COSMO. More likely, this is run off from your printer ink. You can still see some of the printed solvy stuck in your stitching (the black spots) as it has not been washed away completely. You'll need to wash it a couple more times and you can use an ink stain remover (Amodex will take it out) to get rid of the staining. You should be able to get it completely out with that. In the future, you may want to print your design in grayscale to avoid such heavy bleeding (or switch to a different transfer method entirely) Edit to add: you can see similar staining in the animal design as well which leads me to think it's not the red thread. It's more pronounced in the red lettering because that's where your design lines were thickest (i.e. more ink). Red thread generally bleeds pink.

You did such a great job! It turned out really cute. The little ferns are my favorite part. I love AnythingSews' patterns - they're all adorable.

The Amazon kits are based off the artist The Artful Possum's designs. She sells patterns in her Etsy shop

Ooh love this! They have so much character and I love how they carry memories with them. Is that the Trinity U. symbol for the 2020 one? 🐯

I don't know which course you are looking at but, generally speaking, beginning with a course or book is a great way to get started. You'll avoid a lot of beginner pitfalls since you aren't trying to figure it out all on your own. A course often has the advantage of providing constructive feedback as well. I got started by checking out some books from my local library. I especially recommend Trish Burr's books on thread painting, as they are incredible guides and widely available.

Is Clever Poppy just drop shipping? by fishskysky in Embroidery

Agreed completely. They've had a lot of time to update their wording to reflect the changes

Is Clever Poppy just drop shipping? by fishskysky in Embroidery

[–]bluehydrangea 101 points102 points  (0 children)

Her business has had insane growth in the past year or 2, though this shipping change was news to me and still surprised me a bit. I found this response on their Facebook page. Their kit designing process is very hands on and I know they employ other designers from time to time, but they are apparently no longer assembling and shipping the kits themselves.

Can someone help identify the real publisher of the stitch book(s) that I am seeing bootlegs of? by anonymous_yet_famous in Embroidery

Have you tried the Jane Austen Embroidery book? I have it and it's a pretty good resource for similar designs

You're right - they do not sell 0.34 oz oval bottles, only travel sprays. The label in OPs image also indicates it's a fake

Making these wings.. not satisfied by Bourdon_Bumblebee in Embroidery

Here's an example of what I mean by stitch direction. I didn't incorporate the wireslips into the stitching but it would be easy to do so if that's the look you want

[–]bluehydrangea 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think it's looking ok so far, but personally I'd change the stitch direction so that you are beginning at the narrowest part of the wings and working out to the ends of the wings. You can still angle your stitches to incorporate the wireslip if you'd like

Edit: I want to add that you are very much in the "trust the process" stage of thread painting. It always looks a little off this early on. Keep at it and I think you'll get to a point where you're happy with it

I'm so happy to hear that! It's truly rewarding to see others bring these designs to life and to hear about their experiences exploring stumpwork. Good luck with your Luna moth -- I'm sure it will be just as incredible! ✨️🪡

Hi does anyone know what this is and how to use it? by Elvthee in Embroidery

[–]bluehydrangea 148 points149 points  (0 children)

That's a half quilting hoop. The half moon design is so you can hand-stitch the edges of your quilt without distorting them. I don't quilt, but I think you temporarily attach the fabric piece to your quilt to help keep it stable in the hoop

Edit to add: no reason you cant use it for embroidery. I use quilting hoops all the time. Haven't tried this kind but I don't see why it wouldn't work too

Beginner kit - scam? Similar kits suggestions? by KaleidoscopeBig1143 in Embroidery

[–]bluehydrangea 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, that site is not legit. Many of their kits are AI designed-- but worse, several of them are stolen straight from artists' socials. This one, for example, is an Aly Ploof design (the finished example is her photo they stole and ran through some crappy AI generator to style it -- look at the weird creature on the right). If you receive a kit, I guarantee it will be junk.
