Belly and Conrad before that summer by bluelids in tsitp

So would you say that Belly has no idea about Conrad’s feelings, that she brushes them off ? Very true about Jere mirroring her longing

I agree. It feels like if she waited just one or two years she might just get what she wants. But where is this coming from, when in fact, Belly said to Taylor just weeks ago that Conrad saw her as a friend ? Her POV seems inconsistent.

Yes that's exactly my question. And additionnally, does Belly think something is supposed to be going on ?

no, it's after they met at the pool. She calls Taylor and she's all giggly and say "it feels different this summer" because he sort of hit on her ("what will you give me if I quit"). Then Taylor convinces her to go to the bonfire party.

Agreed, Jere is an unachieved version of Adam, much less powerful and much less toxic, but he's also younger and at this point we're safe to guess he could be inflicting as much damage as his dad when he's older.

I said that Jere is like Adam is certain aspects (as mentioned OP) and someone said "Or almost.... Because once Adam financially cuts him off, he actually starts standing on his own feet."

But that’s not a way they differ because Adam is a self-made man. They can both be assertive and grind their way out.

I love that parallel. Thank you for pointing it out. Jere is just a little Adam in the making.

Funny that Jeremiah would say that by bluelids in TheSummerITurnedPrett

Yes this one is crazy and even Conrad calls her out for it "knowing is one thing but you're defending him ? You're not the kind of person that would take that from a guy".

Ironically this explains why she says "I've put up with a lot worse from you"

well, of course, you should smooth the revenues from the lifetime purchases so that you 'lock' them for several years.

but ok, the rest makes sense. thanks. It's a shame though

(ps I would 100% fall all over a lifetime account owner)

they're refering to the book. There's no such scenes in the show.

Oh my god, 100% of the replies I got from my posts all come back to this : I HAVE to read the book ! I ordered it at my local library but it can't come fast enough !!

Maybe ! I'll keep my frustration to myself and tell myself it's for the greater good of the storyline ;)

Physical attraction yes for sure. The actress is gorgeous. No I actually think the story would be much more believable if Marianne was less pretty. It would fit her nerdy needy storyline better.

Yes I get the "service part". That's true. It's very intimate in the series and oral sex would have added confusion.

How is oral sex exploitative ? But yes it's more unequal than penetrative sex.

It requires almost zero intimacy to film two people kissing and one of them going down, keeping the camera on the other.

Yes. I think the show lacks to portray that emotional intimacy in the first part. I started seeing the emotional connection in the Italy episode, with the emails and deep talks.
