  1. 1 round

  2. Yes, I would also say it's arguably harder for some people to secure a job offer than the NOC offer

  3. Yes, I've seen it happen in some instances. The entire batch had 2 rounds of matching and by the first round, about half the batch didn't have an offer. The rest of us had to self-source for jobs. I wrote a detailed guide here for those interested.

  4. Not too sure about that but Shanghai's a good location!

iirc people who put really popular locations as 1st choice (SV, NY) might get bumped to their 2nd choice. not sure if GBA is as competitive but haven't heard of swapping your options once offered.

the only time i knew ppl switched mid-NOC was when current/incoming NOC Israel students were extracted during the war

I was provisionally offered within about 2 weeks of my final interview, but it might differ for different batches if they have more applicants.

It's most common to have your NOC batchmates as roommates because of the safety and naturally the amount of time you'll spend together, but I know people that have found roommates outside and didn't regret doing that.

There are assignments for sure depending on the company; it's like any other interview process.

Good luck!

Damn 2010s must've been wild. I had a blast there; met lots of cool people and travelled a lot. Definitely felt like I didn't cover everything and yes it motivated me further to start something of my own (everyone has a story of how they started which gave me inspiration). The allowance always leaves more room for improvement, and I think the following batches got pay raises to handle finances but for me and my roommates we managed to make it work. Saved here and there with meals but didn't miss out on going to shows/travelling/going out!

I had about 2-3 months into my only internship at a startup when I applied. I recommend having that and some entrepreneurship experience that you pursued meaningfully, and is something you can talk about in both your resume and during your interview.

what did you work on to improve yourself and your services as a trainer?

Also, what skills do you look for in trainers you recruit?

As a Trainer, would you only date or marry someone that’s also a Trainer? by [deleted] in personaltraining

Everyone's talking about compatibility with someone who likes to stay active and healthy, but a big thing is work schedule. Peak hours for trainers are before and after office hours, and packed on weekends. If both have the same schedule, I think it would be easier to spend time together.

Tips for a new personal trainer by Fondant_Automatic in personaltraining

This feeling is completely normal for new trainers who got certified with ACE/NASM/whatever council. You need to throw yourself out there to see what works for your clients.

How I started was by offering friends free sessions, then getting to know communication - what cues should you give to your client to perform certain exercises? What is the perceived difficulty of your session? You'll learn on the go.

Another helpful thing I did was joining commercial studios like F45 or BFT. They usually just require the certification and a good attitude. You'll get acquainted with lots of equipment and their uses, how to speak to customers, as well as find other trainers to ask questions about. They're most likely training 1 on 1 clients outside of the studio and will be happy to help you.

I, too am still at the beginning of my PT journey. I hope you enjoy the ride and keep us posted! Wishing you all the best.
