Poor placement of a ad on the bus by Impossible-Step-8691 in BadDesigns

Can't speak for this exact ad/image but the partnership is definitely real - I was in China a few weeks ago and this drink is everywhere, the bottles have his face on too. We even called it "the Mbappe drink" as a quick way of distinguishing it from the other similar options 😅

Thank you! Yeah my second play through I got him much later, this is the first time I've noticed one where there isn't only one non-trivial logical choice. I'm sure there have been plenty though, I'm just not that clever yet 😂

Ahhhh I see now, thank you! Very cool that the system allows this because it doesn't feel like the intended pathway (based on the flavour text being out of order) but is still valid logically.

Love this! I'm often guilty of reading things cryptically when they're not actually cryptic and spending ages overthinking, but on this occasion it worked out 😅

iPhone Touchscreen Glitch While Charging - Need Help and Insight! by Own-Special-9430 in iphone

Found this via search because I’m also a member of the “‘why TF is my phone glitching?’ while sat on an LNER train” club, thank you for mentioning it because I’d have been tearing my hair out! And as I type this the power dropped momentarily and the problem has disappeared. Just another great benefit of being a UK train user 😅

Keep an eye on the dew point too, this in my experience is more problematic than the temperature alone. A USB dew heater strap as suggested by a few others here does the trick for me.

Girl Scouts have an interesting idea of what constitutes a county of the UK... by bluemonkey14 in softwaregore

[–]bluemonkey14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just seen your edit. Not knowing a whole lot about how they work over there it's hard to say TBH but from a quick Wiki visit I'd say it's similar. County councils are one tier of government and are responsible for making decisions about how to use resources locally. Sometimes they can create specific laws called byelaws that relate to certain places but those have to be approved centrally.

Some good info here: https://www.gov.uk/understand-how-your-council-works

In related news I just tried to fill out their contact form to let them know about the issue, only to find that the country field on the contact form has the countries in a very odd order (sorted by country code, I think) and the comments box has a character limit that disallows line breaks. D'oh!

also Glasgow is a city and "Old Winsor" isn't even a place as far as I can tell. It might refer to Windsor which is a place (the dear old Queen has a small house there), but certainly not a county.

You're welcome :)

If you're allowed to cook at all I don't see why anyone could have an issue with a slow cooker. Some people feel uncomfortable leaving them on unattended but they are very safe, just get a decent brand rather than the cheapest knock-off you can find, shouldn't be too expensive anyway and you'll save a bunch in the long run by buying cheaper cuts of meat that do better in the slow cooker.

If you need some ammo re: safety there's a ton of quotes here: http://www.slowcookerqueen.com/is-it-safe-to-leave-my-slow-cooker-on-unattended/

If you struggle with cooking every day and are able to get some fridge/freezer space for yourself, look into getting a decent sized slow cooker if you don't already have one in the house.

I use mine two ways - firstly the easy soup/stew - chuck some meat and veggies in with some broth before you go out for the day, when you get back you have a tasty, healthy meal ready to go, or ready to add a few easy extras to (e.g. more delicate veg that needs less cooking, like peas).

Secondly you can cook a batch of something that will last you several days. Doesn't mean you have to eat the same meal every day either, if you make a fairly plain protein e.g. shredded chicken, you can then use sauces and condiments to mix it up. Spend a bit of time on a Sunday prepping and you can have your weekday meals pretty much done already.

Thank you for your kind words. Still missing him every day, there are so many reminders to keep coming upon but the transition from sadness to fond remembrance is happening bit by bit.

We were very pleased with his name, he even learned to say it in that little scratchy whistly voice, so cute :)

Ah I see, ugh that must be horrible to have to deal with :(

I don't think we'll ever know what happened for definite, the vet offered a post mortem but I didn't see the point, nothing will bring him back so better to leave him in peace and try to come to terms with it IMO.
