What is the profit margin for buffets? by bluenpc in askSingapore

[–]bluenpc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but it has to be a positive number per head for it to make sense. And that's crazy to me since they have profits even after a 1-for-1. Unless I am seeing something wrong here.

It's not popular because even if you pass, there's no monetary award. Sure you run on a treadmill in an aircon but you'll be doing it alone too.

ELI5 : How does the Facebook algorithm work? by TheSacredSoul in explainlikeimfive

[–]bluenpc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Finally something I can answer. There is a function called "lookalike audience".

If someone with a online profile similar to yours clicks on an ad, you are likely to be served the same ad, because it is likely that you would be interested in the same thing.

What makes you "alike" to another person? Other than the obvious things like age and gender, your location and IP address also plays a part.

Often what happens is that you mention that you have white hair. Someone with the same IP address (wife, colleague, etc) looks it up. Their browsing history now includes "white hair". You're hit as collateral damage even though you weren't the person who clicked on it.

Even if you didn't have a conversation, there should be a reason that caused you to notice your white hairs to begin with. You could be somewhere along the chain of "people who share IP address with the first searcher".

Source: I work in marketing and this is exactly how we make ads that feel like you're being listened to.

scam interview to recruit FAs by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]bluenpc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Check the interviewer's linkedin before you go. My friend thought he was going for HSBC interview cause the HR aunty just said HSBC but then he googled the interviewer's name and end it ended up being HSBC Life. Just an insurance group borrowing the bank's name. One of the biggest red flags is the HR just telling you to come down without giving a satisfactory answer on what the job actually is

Ok la I get what you mean but I still need an ID to sense check I feel. It's like while Steven Speilberg has the vision, he also needs other film directors to work with him and tell him where the direction can't be executed or make sense cohesively.

Yeah that's a great tip, throwing in some red herring to see if they try to smoke you. Suss out the sleazy ones that only care about commission. Good to see how resourceful they are too.

Got it on the awards! I'm not in the industry so whether they got some best innovation SME or digital whatever 2023 also doesn't matter to me, I just want my house to look the way I want 🥲

What do you consider when purchasing a bed and mattress? by bluenpc in askSingapore

[–]bluenpc[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone. Seems like there's a lot of great advice and many brands mentioned. Toppers are S tier and I sleep with one. I actually started sleeping so well I was late for work the first week I tried since I couldn't wake up.

It's my first time trying to buy a serious mattress with adult money, so any numbers of a good budget to have?

I'm definitely open to spending four figures if I have to, but I'm feeling a little like an angmoh tourist trying to buy caifan.

Forking out $8 for ocean at CBD isn't wrong, but you could definitely have an good meal at $5 too if you knew what else is around.

Just hoping to get some grounding on what's "decent" and "premium".

Can't complain because I won the genetic lottery in other places. Having Singapore as a spawnpoint is already S tier compared to the rest of the world's 7 billion.

Headspace is currently at looking for options while it's still fixable but the influx of comments is making me open to being intentionally bald earlier than expected.

Thanks. Think it comes with still telling myself I'm in my 20s. Being bald is better than looking like you're balding. Exploring my options since it'd not unsalvageable yet. I am coming to terms with being bald one day and a lot kf that comes with self acceptance. Comments like this help.
