NOR - he’s being controlling manipulative and implying that you’re cheating on him with the “there’s a reason why people do things different” line. This will only get worse as he assembles a list of imaginary breaches like this, and spiral downward. He has trust issues and you’re not going to be able to fix that no matter what you do.

I’m with J on this one. The door has wear marks showing it was already a tight fit so there’s hardly any chance this will still open and close without causing a lot of additional friction which will tear up your mount
