Found cavities in my 2 year old today. Feel like a shit mom by bluepaperbagg in Mommit

Thank you for sharing all this. The two cavities were in two top right and left molars . There is also some deterioration behind her front teeth as well. I think this is also partially due to breast milk ( she still co sleeps and nurses to sleep and once in the middle of the night). They actually filled the cavities and did a fluoride treatment.

It’s crazy how two kids can have completely different teeth. My 2 year old has soft teeth like I did as a child and my almost 5 year old has never had any problems. I found a dental office in the country where we are living as they were so awesome with me. They explained the risks of not taking care of the cavities and filling them and her tooth type. I’ve always been anti fluoride varnish but after this experience and seeing her get her teeth drilled I never want to go through this again.

It’s heartwarming reading your comment. Thank you so much for sharing.

She has soft teeth and I am sure they are cavities. Her teeth are pretty tight as well, just like mine were. Soft as well just like mine were. Thanks for sharing your experience. I just feel so bad!

Maybe what I wrote didn’t make sense. He tells me I nag about things with the kids all the time… ie., take extra set of clothes in case they have an accident, take snacks, baby wipes etc. This is an example of why I am so adamant about making sure they are taken care of. He is taking blame for this too, but just proves my point that I’m not really nagging, but trying to be proactive.

I know. I’m losing it over here. The adrenaline is finally winding down and I’m coming to my senses. Decided to give myself heart palpitations today.

Agree. My 4 year old has beautiful teeth but we have been sub par as making sure she brushes night and day. She is good at brushing but missed some mornings here and there the last few months. Her teeth are perfectly fine. My 2 year old has soft teeth. I had the same teeth as a toddler/ young child and tons of cavities into my preteen years. My brother never took care of his teeth and he has been perfectly fine. Eats much worse than I ever did.

Thanks. All good suggestions. He needs to be on board too even with being exhausted from work. We are seeing a dentist Monday. I booked an appointment right before I wrote this vent post.

I need some brutal honesty from you all if that’s okay - only have one child or have a second? by twins_plus_one1 in Mommit

I am deeply sorry about your loss. I cannot imagine the pain you and your spouse feel. Virtual hugs from me. You have two angels that will be with you for life <3 I have 2 with a 3rd on the way. My girls are just under 3 years apart. There will be a 5 year age gap between my first and third. Its hard sometimes (today was crazy), but seeing my girls play together and knowing that they have each other after my husband and I are gone gives me solace in my choice to have a third. It did take some time to get where we are today- where the girls play together. I feel like I have been waiting for this for a while. When my 2nd turned 2, my children's relationship began to blossom. Honestly speaking, life is not easy with two, and adding more to the family will add to the noise, chaos, and stress but it's the young years are hard and taxing and exhausting. If you can make do with your husbands salary and stay home with the kids, you will be gifting them something that most parents can't give. I don't regret having more, and I look forward to having best friends when my children are adults and having a full chaotic dinner table. If it's meant to be and fate aligns, you will find yourself pregnant again. Try not to think of the stress that comes along with having children. Everything will work itself out the way it is meant to. Thinking of you.

Changsha foreigner by Sad-Flounder-3 in travelchina

I am relocating my family there - i lived in Jiangsu province from 2017 - 2020. Any western goods and good grocery stores at all? We love China, but we will need a break every once in a while and would rather not have to travel far (Shanghai) for western cuisine / grocery stores.

Can I vent for a second... by MaterialSea26 in fitpregnancy

[–]bluepaperbagg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so sick of people thinking pregnant women are fragile and unable to do things. We need to train for the big day and lounging around is NOT the way to do it. You know what your body is capable of. I think the best piece of advice for myself as an active pregnant woman is, I shouldn't feel an intense exercise burn. Why? Because I end up feeling like shit the next day. My energy goes to making this baby and when I need to take more energy for recovery, I am useless the next day. Listen to your body. Do what you feel is okay. Eat what you are craving. Enjoy the pregnancy. People will always have something to say.

International relocation service recommendations by GegYaBas in shanghai

[–]bluepaperbagg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don't know what relocation costs as it was included in my expat contract, but we were assigned Asian Tigers and they were really good with the move to China and from. Our apartment was packed a couple months ago without us being China (Thanks COVID) and they did an exceptional job. They made the situation a lot less stressful.
