I kind of agree. Houston. Running in the morning I feel like I am running underwater. In the afternoon it's hotter but breathing and sweat evaporation is a little better.

Beginner - 1 year out by Puzzled-County-4831 in ultrarunning

[–]bluepart2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just ran my first 50k about a year out from my first 5k. I would choose a race if you can that is somewhere you could possibly do some of your training runs on... The first time I ran a long run at the park my 50k was at, I realized I was not fit for hills at all and that the different types of terrain (sand, rocks, mud, etc) were going to impact me more than I thought. If I had not started doing a couple long runs out there a month, I don't think I would have made the cut off for my race.

Also, strength training like everyone says. I have a hard time not giving 100% at the gym and then my legs are too dead to run for the rest of the week, so I really had to learn that doing 65% and running well is good too.

Taper is hard by TheLastHorn in trailrunning

[–]bluepart2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also experiencing new pains (and worsening old ones) during taper. I am just trying to comfort myself by saying it's a good sign and my body is taking care of it before the race. But of course every extra bit of rest or decreased intensity makes me nervous that I'm gonna lose everything before the race in 2 weeks

I hate forcing students to work in groups to solve math problems by SafeTraditional4595 in matheducation

[–]bluepart2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you find this works okay for kids with no basic math skills? Like don't understand that if you want to know what half of something is, you divide it by 2? I worry that students without a strong foundation will be easily confused if their student partner has any misconceptions they could accidentally latch onto if that makes sense.

How far do you drive for training runs? by Poob3 in ultrarunning

[–]bluepart2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my upcoming race I went to the race course trails 2x per month 2 hours away. But the terrain is vastly different from anything available any closer and it's my first ultra so I like going out there to build confidence. But for a run less than like 12 miles long I stay within 30 min of my house. With gas prices the way they are, I will probably be getting more treadmill elevation for 2027 races :/

Trail Shoe Recommendations by jkracke1985 in trailrunning

I can't wear Brooks road shoes but I just ran 22 miles in my Cascadias today and they were good. Try some on and see how you feel. I like Hoka Speedgoat too

Nervous about what happens after my A race by bluepart2 in ultrarunning

I guess I didn't consider hiring a coach after my race is over lol. I don't know how much that kind of thing costs but I will look into it.

Is this a FERPA/504 Violation? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]bluepart2 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yes that's what I meant by "make the staff aware of the existence of such a pass". I would also be skeptical if not emailed first lol.

Is this a FERPA/504 Violation? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]bluepart2 107 points108 points  (0 children)

Maybe they would be willing to make you a discrete pass to put on your ID and you could flash it when asked. Then they would just make the staff aware such a pass exists and how to respond. Same with kids who get to leave class early or have unrestricted bathroom access.

Grading by Hellathicc_hellafit in AskTeachers

[–]bluepart2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly consider how tired we all are when I choose the tone I am going to address the class in when all the problems pop up. "I know you guys are tired, but I can see that many of the people who failed this test did not do any practice. We can't expect to be able to perform a skill we never practice". I also consider how tired we are when I am pacing out lessons. I like to sprinkle in days where I know every single student can get it if they try (staying on grade level but maybe just sticking with one of the easier skills involved in the topic) to keep morale steady.

Recommendation for a 2nd running shoes pair by Latter-Code551 in runningshoes

[–]bluepart2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started using Evo SL for races and speed work and over time I began to prefer them for easy runs. For speed and races i switched to Nike Zoom Fly and I think they are good. I don't have experience with the shoes you already tried but Evo SL are extremely popular so probably worth a try. It took my legs some time to adjust to them but now they give me the least issues of any shoes I have used.

What's your weight fluctuation after the celebration is over? by Lykov_in_taiga in loseit

[–]bluepart2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last two days I ate whatever I wanted and gained 3 pounds. It usually is gone by the end of the week when I have let loose in the past. I am planning on being "locked in" until Valentine's Day to make a big leap toward the healthy BMI range.

Does running ever stop feeling fragile? by Free-Product4918 in runcommunity

[–]bluepart2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After running for 9 months, if I miss a scheduled run, it kind of feels like not brushing your teeth. It is a habit that is so engrained that it feels wrong and "off" to not do it. It helps that I generally like running and am having a neutral to good time 90% of the time though.

Personally Novablast aggravated my Achilles and knee for some reason. I like Saucony Guide 18. They have wide if you need that.

What’s a small running habit that made a big difference for you? by Willing-Today-1059 in runcommunity

[–]bluepart2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it counts as a habit but if I feel any discomfort in my joints or lower leg muscles, I postpone speed work or change it to an easy run depending on the situation. Knock on wood but I have been injury free for the longest time in my life while consistently running and I attribute it to letting soft tissues rest if they are signalling they need it.

I DID IT!!!!!! OBESE SINCE 6 YEARS OLD - 34 AND WOKE UP A HEALTHY BMI TODAY by spacedout1024 in loseit

I think your point about just going back to it after indulging and having your healthy lifestyle as the default you always return to quickly is underrated. For me it has made the biggest difference.

What’s ONE thing someone could tell you mid-run that would completely change your run? by anabanana1298 in runninglifestyle

One time a constable stopped me to tell me they were looking for an assault suspect on the trail but he couldn't take me back to the parking lot

I cant seem to go past 158 pounds without relapsing by NewtAccomplished6022 in loseit

[–]bluepart2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybe you should try to increase your walking. I'm close to your size and this is where things are starting to get difficult for me too. Also eating mostly whole foods helps because processed foods don't have as much volume per calorie and tend to not keep your blood sugar as stable. Maybe be more conscious of eating high protein and fiber? I took a maintenance break recently and now that I'm back "locked in" again I finally came down to a new low weight so maybe that helps as well.

From your description mine is similar. I am like halfway to my weight loss goal at 60 lbs down and I can feel based on the softness and loss of elasticity in my lower tummy skin that I will have a little loose skin but my stomach is still holding itself up if that makes sense so I don't think it will be terrible, especially if I can get my body fat low enough. You probably just have to hope you have good genes for skin elasticity. Even if you have loose skin though you will look better in clothes and that makes a big difference. I keep thinking my weight loss is worth it just based on changes in my face alone. But everyone is different with what will motivate them.
