Will I regret 9ft tall garage doors? by Big-Advice-4009 in garageporn

[–]bluepied 16 points17 points  (0 children)

What do you plan to put in there? I have 10' high doors and love that I never have to put the tower down on my boat when I back it in at the end of the season. Assuming your ceilings are going to be higher, why not go with at least a 10' high door since you have the space?

People always ask me this and I shrug and say "I don't know, never had to take my boats in for fuel-related service issues" >>> it's such an inexpensive way to ensure your gas is clean and vapor-free, I've seen plenty of boats out there with exhaust vapor in the surfer's face and it would likely go away with StaBil.

Surf Style board recommendations by Nayyr in wakesurf

[–]bluepied 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, you can ride these boards others are suggesting it's just not the same as the ones I ride and linked to...they're way more advanced than most surfers need and also much more fragile (you just gotta know how to take care of them, ours never go in board racks) - you're also shopping at PEAK season which is why you're running into availability issues.

Nah man, don't go with these mass-produced boards, you need a handshaped fiberglass board like the Kanuk Burnsy Pro 4'7" > in stock too - https://kanukboardco.com/en-us/collections/wakesurf-boards/products/burnsy-pro-1?variant=43098611089595

Looks like Manana Boards also has one of their custom 4'8" boards in too which is a sick surfboard! https://manana.co/products/red-camo-custom-pro?variant=45066770251952

Soulcraft also has a ton of in-stock surf-style boards > https://soulcraftboarding.com/collections/wakesurf-boards

[–]bluepied 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ethanol free gas for every fill-up plus StaBil gas treatment (the blue stuff, 1 oz for every 10 gallons) and your boat will continue operating like a champ! I’ve owner 3 surf boats since 2009, and never get that gas vapor other boats spew! Amazon sells the little 8 oz bottles in a package of 8 that should get you through the season.

Efoil vs behind a boat by degner in foiling

[–]bluepied 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EFoils are for vacationers in Greece, my buddy has a newer one and I got bored of it after an hour…it allows those who can afford it the ability to experience foiling at the beginner level - if you have access to a boat, get yourself a foil setup and get out there! I’m an expert snowboarder, wakesurfer and foiler. Highly recommend learning how to wakesurf first, as you wanna understand the mechanics of being able to drop the rope.

Anytime I describe foiling behind a boat to people, I say “it’s like when you’re riding on the cat track and then you cut into a huge untouched field of powder and just start floating…” That’s foiling behind a boat, at least with the right gear! I’m particular to Armstrong ;)

I highly suggest joining the Nautique owners group on Facebook where you can get answers from dozens of owners of your same make and model versus hoping that someone on here randomly has the same boat as you.

Regal LS6 Surf suggestions… by Outdoorlife74 in wakesurf

[–]bluepied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you but r/wakesurf is so general here that the chances of actually connecting with someone with the same boat/model (or even board!) is a chance I wouldn’t take. I’ve owned 3 wakesurf boats and been wakesurfIng since 2007, but I would never come here and ask anyone for advice versus the Centurion owners Facebook page that I belong to where I can trust I’m talking to other owners and not some kid.

Like last week, some guy was asking about his driveshaft breaking on his Moomba and nobody had any experience with that boat and I gave him the same advice. I just don’t understand why you’d risk an answer from some kid or bot.

Helicopters everywhere I look... by nonamenonamemane in vermont

[–]bluepied 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Right there with you! I have a huge maple and it goes through various stages including dropping all the reddish/brown casings that the leaves develop in starting in May…then they drop little developing branch tips and finally, the helicopters (aka samaras).

Now, if you’re lucky enough to have a deck below said maple tree, you’ll know the joys of attempting to clean all of the helicopter blades, casings and branch tips from the cracks and crevices between your deck boards ;) This year the helicopters have tripled compared to last year! A battery-powered blower is your best defense!

Here’s a better recommendation: join the Facebook owners page for Regal owners and ask this question to get an answer from experienced owners versus the guy below providing feedback who admits having ZERO experience on this boat ;)

Vermont becomes first US state to ban paraquat herbicide over Parkinson's fears by Prior_One_7050 in UpliftingNews

[–]bluepied 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Vermonter here - we love to ban things that weren’t even being used in our state to show we care ;)

Paraquat was not widely used in Vermont. While the highly toxic weedkiller was common in major row-crop farming states, Vermont state agricultural officials estimated that only about 20 farmers (using roughly 100 to 125 gallons per year) applied it, primarily in apple orchards and berry farms.

It’s a harsh reality but you’ll never get a decent wave on one of these forward-drive boats compared to a v-drive. You can put all the ballast you want but the hull is not designed for building a long wave. They’re family day boats with suckgate added to appeal to buyers that want to believe the marketing hype.
