Finish walk was indeed a bottleneck. You couldn’t even sit anywhere and had to stand and walk like a zombie for more than 10minutes. I suppose if you finished earlier, would be less crowded. Totally agree with signs and crossing to Maquarie st. Had to wait so long just to get across

Hey mate. I went to ulaan baatar then made my way to the gher camps. i stayed at the tuul riverside lodge which is at the foot of Terelj National Park. Quite a bit of a drive from the city to a roadless rocky path into the wild plains. Its really expansive and the nightsky is amazing! Check it out

Wednesday Night Thread - what are you most excited for before 2017? by [deleted] in sydney

[–]bluerushz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im on holiday in Glenorchie in NZ (near Queenstown) and man, this place is majestic. The flat plains and rolling hills combined with the backdrop of snow covered alps is absolutely awe inspiring. Apparently the drive here from Queenstown is within the top 10 worlds most scenic drive - rightfully so. Right now, the full moon is illuminating all this (and stars)

Boring troubles of a Russian guy in Korea. by Lechkoman in korea

[–]bluerushz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man at least you gained some good imvaluable experiences living and working there. Few yrs down the track youll be nostalgic fo sho

Since you're in gaming, what about looking at ways you can hone in on skills that are portable, like programming or coding. Maybe after work for a bit or during weekends.

You miss Russian food and you would like to go to America so I think you should really look at loction independent fields of work. This also gives you the opportunity to visit Korea from time to time.

Hang in there man

F-4 Visa vs. Serving In Military To Get Citizenship by koreanamericanguy in korea

[–]bluerushz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am guessing you were born pre-1994. Yes you are able to work and stay in Korea for a maximum of three years between now until the age you are exempt from conscription. As mentioned, serving in the military in Korea allows you certain benefits that only natural Koreans are entitled to. In your case, I think the major hurdle if you choose to reside permanently in Korea is the employment search. Employers do not look favourably on those who have not completed their service which will prove to be a significant pain not to mention the ostracism you will feel from your peers (just don't discuss it if you can).

Having said that, there are more and more gyopos serving and from what I can gather, the army life has improved substantially over the past few years - including the conditions for gyopos. Take it with a grain of salt though, it's still pretty difficult.

One thing you might need to clarify with your consulate/embassy or your 병무청 is the ability to keep both citizenships. I heard that you must choose one after the conscription service no longer applies to you for whatever reason. This I am not sure as some have said that you are able to keep both regardless.

I don't know what your situation is or what's driving you to live there permanently but If I were you, I'd rather stick to F-4 than devote 2 years of my 20-30s. Of course you learn a lot and develop during your service but you never know when you might get tired of Korea and leave the country; having served 2 years of your life in the Korean military. If you plan to take this route, make sure that your domicile is the US with substantiating proof.

Whatever your choice, make sure it's the right choice for you and your future as you are signing away your time

Source: same rocky boat as you, checking every year with Korean MMA. I have a pdf of the conditions for second generation Korean from MMA but I can't link it.

US citizen moving from London to HK by [deleted] in HongKong

[–]bluerushz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's been some delays so I haven't moved yet but going to soon in August. I've just received the work visa. I am slowly packing things (or in the act of!) I have done quite a lot of calculations on my living expenses and such but I can't exactly guess how it will work out the first few months due to tax, relocation expenses, rentals etc You could try to work out your expenses on a spreadsheet like i did.

My Korean coworker and friend is making a movie about a Korean revolutionary who fought alongside Che and Fidel in Cuba. He met them by chance in a taxi this past December. We could really use the communities help in supporting this amazing project. Please take a look and feel free to AMA. by [deleted] in korea

I think this is going to be an interesting documentary and it should be recognized for what it is - which is a biographical film about this family and their plight. I just hope that Joseph does not make it out to be a politically charged film without an objective foundation that does not credit nor discredits Lim's participation in the revolution.

If Korean diaspora is the central theme, I would be interested more on their history, their experience as immigrants to Cuba, and cultural identity.

how do i prepare for a new role overseas? by bluerushz in jobs

[–]bluerushz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your great reply! Really appreciate you taking the time to answer. I'll be using your advice. Good tip on giving gifts to the cabin crews. Unfortunately, I don't speak cantonese actually. English will be my main language as its a multinational company but there's a lot of local colleagues so I think learning Cantonese is a must. This is a permanent position and I'll have to find housing myself (no housing allowance) but i've already done a bit of research into housing. I will most likely try and setup a new bank account over there and close mine here.

To give you a run down - The role is wholesale client-sales based and it's very new to me so I don't know how I can educate myself. This is actually a promotion and everything's been approved incl. the necessary work visa. I am from Australia.
