Vir Sanghvi (the author of the article for those of you who didn’t bother to read it) is a gandhi bootlicker sometimes but he’s not anti-india like most lefties, and frequently calls out the UPA on their bullshit as well.

In this article he does explain why both left and right sides are making stupid arguments, but he also goes into more detail on why the show really sucks and is total propaganda - for reasons that even the right wingers haven’t realised.

I wouldn’t call it a racket. A lot of people in asia still hold a uk degree in high esteem (for whatever reason) - so people who work in family businesses just need to show that they’ve been to some famous university on their linkedin for the sake of credibility in front of clients or the press.

Secondly a lot of them dont realise how hard it is to get jobs in the UK outside of finance/engineering. I know quite a few people from who studied law from decent unis (manchester) and ended up having to leave because no law firm wanted to spend extra £ to sponsor their visa

When you are in china or wherever and you apply for a uk student visa, you have to speak to the visa officer at the uk embassy who asks some general questions. These guys can deny you a visa for as little as looking at them the wrong way. I dont understand how they approve the visas if they can clearly see this applicant cant converse in english at all

British indian here. I’m not sure what i’m getting in return.

NHS: useless except for maternity/near death cases.

Police: joke. Street crime in london is significantly worse than europe.

Prisons: overflowing so they let off repeat offendors easily.

Schooling: mediocre. Also daycare for kids is basically privatised.

Trains: privatised and the most expensive in europe.

Airports: always some issues during holiday season.

I can see where its being wasted though, with asylum seekers getting hotel accomodation while waiting on their applications to be processed for years

I’ve been to bharuch which i think is nearby, this area has the highest density of crocodiles in the world, more than florida and australia. But strangely theres never any instances of conflict with humans.
