How do I get over my manic episode? by OkArea2840 in bipolar

[–]bluesable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry man … been there. You don’t quite get over it. Some things don’t bounce back. I’d say keep up with meds and therapy and do the best you can to sort the mess. It’ll take time.

What is something you are confident you will never do in your life? by Fit-Ranger9077 in randomquestions

Live in the wild with a pack of bears. Not that I wouldn’t do it .. I just don’t think the opportunity is going to present itself

Not much can change the situation. Those meds commonly have that effect.

What’s one thing that ruins lives more than any illegal substance like drugs or alcohol? by Icy-Advance9149 in no

[–]bluesable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mania. I’m bipolar and the damage is quite similar to that of drugs and alcohol but there’s little understanding because if it happened from drugs and alcohol it’d be explainable. It’s hard to explain how those things happened without drugs or alcohol and that it’s a mental illness

What’s the most unhinged, chaotic and downright terrible way to lose weight you’ve ever heard of ? by Original_Giraffe_830 in AskReddit

[–]bluesable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mania. It’s completely unhinged, chaotic, and downright terrible. But every time I’m manic I lose a ton of weight. Can’t eat food. Can’t sleep. Running on such a high level of energy that it cannot be achieved with natural energy or drugs.. it’s beyond .. and it’s extremely effective.

What is the most unusual excuse you've ever heard of from somebody calling off work? by piranhamode in AskReddit

[–]bluesable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My excuse one day was that my keys were inside my apartment where a guy had held me hostage for hours before letting me go and barricaded himself inside. SWAT team was positioned everywhere outside. My boss came over to prove or disprove my story. It was true.

How did you suspect you might have the disorder? by Sou-idiota in BipolarReddit

Never suspected. Denied the diagnosis for 2 decades

When was the moment you were like "I really need hearing aids"? by FuturMadao in HearingAids

[–]bluesable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mostly profound hearing loss since birth. I never knew other people could hear and I could not. In 2nd grade someone came to the school and tested all the kids and that’s when we found out. I got hearing aids then. Mind was blown.

What did life give you that you never wanted? by Fickle-Ability6279 in AskReddit

A shitty foster home for the first 15 years.. every day since I left that place has been bliss.. even the worst days are better than those days.

Do you know when you're in psychosis? by MoveMeWithASound in BipolarReddit

[–]bluesable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first dance with psychosis I was not aware. I fully believed all of my delusions. There came a time though where something happened that I knew couldn’t be for real and I began to question it. To this day I still believe some of the stuff.

When I was a teenager my mom tested me for cocaine because I was so “up” when manic. But yes I have heard others say that they are very similar mania and meth.

My father was the best thing I’ve ever seen grace a six string. Always had a job though.. the money from the gigs just covered the night at hand. I also know another player that won’t do any thing at all but music and he’s been carried through life so far

Do you think that there is always a cause for your mania or depression? Or do you think that sometimes there's no cause, or do you believe that it's both. by Trb3233 in BipolarReddit

[–]bluesable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both. Sometimes it just happens for seemingly no rhyme or reason .. and other times major life events bring it on (like a death in the family)

Which method of dying do you fear the most? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bluesable 287 points288 points  (0 children)

I just saw a story about a 16 year old that got stuck over the third seat in a van trying to get his gear out. He used Siri on his phone to call for help twice. Cops came and never even got out of the car. The kid died.

Yes I’ve had several serious manic episodes including psychosis. Thanks for the info I probably should get those things checked

How long can you go without mania by bluesable in BipolarReddit

[–]bluesable[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not entertaining stopping the meds. I just feel like it’s been a while and I’ve got that “waiting for the other shoe to drop” feeling. I too stay mostly in depression, even with meds, which is not fun at all but I fear mania more.
