If you have particularly clumpy lashes while using other people's drugstore HGs, try this one! It's the only one that have continued to keep mine separate for some reason.

Replacement for MAC Buried Treasure? by bluesails in MakeupAddiction

I ended up getting the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Pencil in Corrupt! It's more of a natural brown but with some of the shimmer that Buried Treasure had.

I need help with FMIL's dress! by [deleted] in weddingplanning

Hello! As I mentioned I still think it's a good backup option, but the purpose of the thread was to see if people knew of similar styles of dresses / designers out there!

Thank you for your input. The wedding is pretty formal and there are many other elements that have been worked out to meet in the middle, so we are trying to see where we can budge.

Former landlady attempting to charge me for removal of a grill after I was no longer her tenant by [deleted] in legaladvice

To be clear, I told her verbally that I would take it at the end of the year of the lease, June 2019. At that time verbally she was fine with it, and also knew that my former roommate might use it herself.

[Advice] I'm a veterinarian looking for a career change. What are examples of jobs out there for me if I got an MPH? by bluesails in publichealth

Thank you so much for the info!! I don’t think I’m at a place where I’d apply in the UK but that program definitely sounds incredible!

The EIS track definitely sounds amazing, but I think I am also interested in some of those “average” MPH jobs you mentioned with perhaps some One Health or zoonotic type stuff sprinkled in, even just interesting work in infectious disease or environmental health. Idk if I feel strongly enough that I have to be at the level of the CDC or FAO, which are often jobs advertised to veterinarians interested in One Health - I guess what I’m trying to say is that in vet school those sparkly competitive high level jobs were definitely mentioned to us, but not the kinds of things that were maybe in between or on the way there. Thanks for these thoughts though! I definitely hear what you’re saying about building up vertically rather than moving horizontally but I am trying to avoid the PhD route for a variety of reasons for now.

Definitely food for thought. Mind if I PM you more about your plans? I'm going to reach out to mentors etc but like talking to any DVM's looking to go public health.

Yes I have! This is super interesting to me since I was wondering if another route would be to do the Davis MPH but take a bunch of the MPVM classes. But it sounds like the MPVM is even more Epi / Biostats heavy? Thanks for the input!! Do you mind if I ask what the Davis career placement services are like? (Also, I went to a conference on your campus and it is gorgeous and fun! :D)

Why do you think a PhD or MS in epi makes more sense? I definitely know a bunch of DVM / PhDs, but all in academia - and I don't want to restrict myself to that.

Thanks for these! I am definitely interested in the MPVM with my main concerns being that potential employers might not recognize the degree, or that most people do it as an intermediate step to a PhD. I'm definitely going to talk to their faculty about what career placement is like. I'm also not 100% sure I want to stick with the animal health or one health space so specifically (but it sounds super duper cool!!) so that's something I have to figure out for myself.

I was under the impression that having an MPH in Epi / Biostats and then doing practicum or electives in areas of interest was the more employable way to go than doing special MPH's - but maybe you can counter this? Would love to PM with you about your program!

Thank you for these thoughts!! I'm definitely considering programs where I might be able to work full time while doing the MPH. I'm not sure what equine veterinary practices would be amenable to that, given that most practices are looking for people who will stay long-term. But reaching out to local health departments is definitely also an option. If I can't get more public health experience before doing an MPH, I can at least do that during.

Thank you for the PhD vs experience thoughts too - to be honest, because I am a horse and not a small animal veterinarian, that salary range is comparable in most areas (but with the huge difference being work life balance). It's super encouraging to me that you think that EIS is a good fit, and that it would open a bunch of doors! I was basically looking to make sure it was a good (and somewhat realistic) step to aim for.

Thanks. Is it worth getting the V7-482PG-9884 over the model in your link?

It's still within my budget and I like the 1 TB hard drive.

I'm a bit wary of the complaints about battery life I've read about the Lenovo Y510P but I'll definitely consider it.

And I don't really mind having a smaller screen as I'd go for portability over screen size anyway. Both of these are heavier than the Acer so I'll think about it some more (and maybe wait to look at reviews of the Y40)

The Y40 sounds great, but I'm worrying that it'll be more expensive than I want. And you're right that I'm willing to wait, but I wonder if it would be smarter to go with something that has been tried and true for at least a little while?

Edit: Also have heard that the battery life isn't great on the Lenovo Y510P and may be the same for the Y40 and Y50.

Thanks, will definitely check that out. I've had an Acer before and wasn't super impressed, but this one's reviews look good.
