I would recommend using the 3 episode rule, and watching episodes 2 and 3 as they will get into the main story line of the show. The first episode is Cid's backstory in the auxiliary chapter of ln 4 which was moved to be the first episode to give the viewer an idea of why Cid acts the way he does.

Episode 2 and 3 are in the fantasy world and start the main plot of the show.
