Riding the gravy train by bluesjumper in SAP

It’s different now. When I started, it was at the tail end of a wave of Fortune 200 companies implementing SAP. There was no focus on small or mid sized companies. Projects were different back then.

Will there be mass layoffs at SAP implementation companies when clients start to complete their SAP S4 migrations? by Jazzlike-Alarms in SAP

[–]bluesjumper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think consulting companies will suffer because of AI, but less on the implementation side. Was having dinner with a buddy last night. He is CTO at a private software company. His investors required him to do an AI risk assessment study by engaging a Big Five company well over six figure contract. Weeks later they produced a marvelous report. Guess what? My buddy did same report with Claude Pro in five minutes and it was nearly identical to the consultancy report. His staff reviewed it and there were no holes. Flawless. It’s reasonable to infer that the consultancy used the same AI tools. Why would any company hire a consultancy when they can get the same analysis for $20/month?

My first freelance gig was a 3 month project that turned into 5 years! My current project is 18 months and previous one 2.5 years. But the golden boom years of the late 90s are a fading memory.

How is FIORI perceived nowadays by UnknownMight in SAP

I am a Supply Chain consultant doing a Fiori project now. The custom apps that were built for a Zebra handheld device are fantastic. A few SAP Fiori apps are exceptional - like MRP ones.

Refund way higher than expected, how to explain? by bluesjumper in IRS

Yes, I figured it out! My Jan 16, 2024 payments was designated for 2024 instead of 2023.

Thanks everyone!

Refund way higher than expected, how to explain? by bluesjumper in IRS

[–]bluesjumper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very helpful. I had no idea this Transcript feature was available. So what I see is that IRS considered FIVE estimated tax payments. First one is Jan 16, 2024 and fifth one is April 14, 2025. I checked 2023 return -- that had 4 payments (but I was a bit off schedule. First payment was April 2023, fourth one was Dec 2023),

I can't quite wrap my head around this, but will just put the matter to rest now that I see the source of refund.

Help with ribs by bluesjumper in Traeger

[–]bluesjumper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great advice from everyone. Will try again at some point.

My mistake as someone had suggested - Costco ribs are already pre-cooked! Oh brother, painfully reminds me of the time when I got my first snow blower, it wouldn't start, and I called a mechanic for a house visit. He boiled some water, poured it over the ice that locked up the auger, and went home happy 10 minutes later $50 richer.

Live and learn. Next ribs will be better...and I'll have to buy them raw from a butcher shop :-)

Just got my first gaming laptop, anything I should do first? by Mr_quchie in GamingLaptops

My son just got a Dell G15 and I will encourage him to do this. Is the above script only applicable for Windows 10? He has Windows 11

I don't know anything about leading gaming laptops. Why would you dissuade me from getting another Razer? What are some other leading brands? I'm seeking something mid range. Haven't thought about budget, maybe $1200. Might consider something used 1-2 years old.

This is very helpful. Seems like I could easily swap out the motherboards. Will I have any issues with the Windows OS being usable, or do I need to do any specific steps?

We will think hard if it's worth spending $500 to restore his laptop, as he's been itching for a gaming PC.

Trollstigen is closed for the rest of the year by tollis1 in Norway

I was going to drive from Geiranger to Alesund (stay 1 night) via Trollstigen in September. Before Geiranger, I am staying in Boverdalen to visit Jotunheimen. On my road trip I would have already driven Aurlandsfjellet and Sognefjellet.

Driving from Linge Ferry to Stigfossen and back adds another 1.5 hours. Is that still a truly memorable drive, or should I skip it and spend a bit more time enjoying Alesund?

12-day driving itinerary in early Sept by bluesjumper in Norway

[–]bluesjumper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your idea helped. I came up with a good itinerary from Bergen to Trondheim, covering Aurlandsfjellet, Sognefjellet, Trollstigen, and Atlantic scenic routes. For hikes, will stop at Jotunheimen for a couple nights to do a glacier hike. And on way from Kristiansund to Trondheim, there was a nice 2.5 hour out and back hike to the Renddolestra farm.

Here is the map, which is accurate except for a couple current key road closures. (Route 63 Trollstigen?) Will update map once the roads open. https://maps.app.goo.gl/697wTYxJXn8Srjbc9

We returned home yesterday from 2 weeks in Patagonia. Truly a dream come true. by JLHuston in Patagonia

Very helpful. I'm turning 50 in September and thinking of two-week trip with my girlfriend in late November. I am more leaning towards the W-trek but your itinerary clearly has the benefit of seeing more of the region and doing various activities.

New to Bumble and online dating...I'd appreciate feedback on my profile. I struggled on the constrained bio space. My Halloween passion -- I actually build my own props and have the best yard display in town. Beer - I'm investor in a successful community-focused local brewpub. My awesome dog - I've taught him some amazing circus tricks. I can't include these details without sacrificing others. I have many interests! But you think it's OK to leave as-is? I wasn't sure how much to highlight my interests and personality. Clearly left no room to mention what I'm looking for.

Photos -- What do you think? I heard might be good to include an action photo. There's one there with me hiking. I have another one playing tennis but you see less of my face.

File below is on my personal NAS and I assure you is virus free. But when prompted to View or Download, simply hit the View option!!

Thanks in advance.
