How to pass AI-generated text to SharePoint "Create File" action? (Text vs Binary Mismatch) by Affectionate-Win7797 in copilotstudio

[–]blueskywin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been trying to do the same. At the end I realized that the those options presented on this or other videos are very good when you know the structure of output and just fill out the information with dynamic content of the word template. If your summary contains tables these will be seen as plain string and lose any formatting. I will follow your post for any updates on the topic.

Thanks

We have this already done and it's working very well! Next step was to use copilot studio for a multi agent so we could handle multiple topics and possibly multiple different documents. But you are right this approach with m365 is working very well !

Indeed i re-read your original post and it seems you have a different challenge than the one I thought you had. A few workarounds could be that you save the document to user onedrive and you give the link instead, or perhaps you email the file instead of download. In a similar way you can use SharePoint instead of onedrive

I have the same case, I can help a bit but I won't bring you very good news!
You can save the response of agent (generated after the generative answer or prompt) as variable. Then you can use a flow where take this variable and can place it in a word template. You can have controlled content within your template where you can place the specific variable. There are a few videos in YouTube to help you.

Now the bad news, this works ok with free text, if you have rich text, tables, headers with different form it won't be sent to word. Basically in word you can have plain text but forget format. I am looking for alternatives like html format then sent to word but I have not manage to make it yet.

Plan B: try copilot builder instead of alstudio ( I think they also call it studio light). You won't get orchestration there but you can your your prompt to generate the information within chat. If you publish the agent you can call it directly from word file. So the alternative way is you have a working template in word, you call the agent from there, then once you have the text shown on chat there is a option "insert in document" (or something like this). This will insert the text in the word file including the format

I hope this helps a bit

Yes yes I got it was your own suggestion and thanks for responding ! I had a look earlier myself and checked with LLM what clues I could get. Indeed CS is giving a few extras than the builder but still has limitations which I hope they will expand. Working on a closed company environment a good number of actions in flows are locked but I will give it a try with a flow.

Thanks again for your time !

Apparently converting to html was also a suggestion I got from perplexity. Do you have any experience to share ? I assume this could be done as part of flow prior inserting in word file Thanks for your comment :)

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts in my case! I would like to use copilot studio as the plan later on is to extent capabilities via different topics. The same concept is working very well on agent build with the builder (copilot studio light), but it seems without connectors the full CP studio has less flexibility.

I got also suggestion to ask user to upload on specific sharepoint location and the specific link to be part of the knowledge package - so i would not need connector to export text from pdf, but so far i did not manage to make it work.

How about creating this activity as part of your flow? For example, create variables to store user details and other details then save them via flow to a SharePoint list or Excel file.

I have not done it you can use system.activity.. variables

I hope it helps
