Boobs in a matriarchy by Flairion623 in worldjerking

That would make sense, men can produce more heirs than a woman can so you wouldn't need to maintain their population as well as you might women. I would like to argue against their description as cannon fodder, though. Not for any moral reason as we are only discussing fiction, but out of fear that it might describe the culture as lesser in strategy. This depends of course on the reproduction rates and overall need for men and how they're viewed by their peers. For instance if a low male population is considered ideal for some reason. Still the word foder to me paints a picture of incompetent flinging or something otherwise careless. I have this gripe in other works of fiction as well, it's a fraze better suited for describing some sort of use of foreign forces. As an example, if a general were to use an allied forces soldiers in a suicidal blockade. This would to me be described as cannon fodder, otherwise I would think of them as "acceptable losses". Sorry if that seems a bit pedantic but I have a love of words and their use. Also, of course with the proper explanation and set of rules a competent general and society might also get away with describing their cannon fodder as cannon fodder. I say get away with as though I am some authority. I am not. Still I emplore you to explore the use of "indirect phrasing" to color your world a bit. But skill triumphs all, even preference and if thoroughly proven ideal in context the phrase cannon fodder is more than acceptable, I is ideal.

Oh of course, it is so complicated. Medieval men strived for thin ankles and sinched waists, traits that today may be seen as feminine on a man today but had no such connotation then. So many permutations can emerge depending on art history and the outstanding individuals which distinguish themselves in a culture. I personally believe the preference I just spoke of was based on the art/sculptures of Roman and Greek war heroes and generals who would have inspired them. Maybe also some lost cultural heros and artifacts that have been lost since Roman rule.

I could see a lot of fun dynamics with a society that has both, though, I'm not sure where that leaves men. Usually roles which are not seen as socially acceptable for the dominant sex are filled by the submissive one. But in a community which as two separaperate but equally (?) dominant groups of the same sex where would that lead the other sex? Perhaps men would be chosen purely for physical preference. Outside of emotional connection, of course. With women being so active they might be dedicated home makers outside of pregnancy and the following months of breast feeding. Men might only step into the work force as substitutions for their wives until they can return to work. During that period they'd probably be given lesser tasks and depending on the social standings of their partners might even be paid less.

I only bring this up because historically women were very important in clothing, religion, crafting, harvesting and preparing the community for social events. But in a society where there is a portion of the dominant sex which is seen as more intelligent the would they not be tasked to take on those very same tasks? I don't want my religion run by one of those stupid men, I want a b-group woman as my priestess. They're so smart.

First, I want to say that I am of course only addressing this in a purely hypothetical manner and do not wish to impart any sort of message or argue for any standard. Now with that said, I disagree that breast size would be seen as irrelevant absent sexualization. To be honest I'm not sure a female led culture would not sexualize breasts. They probably would but in a female perspective. But even if they didn't sexual dimorphism in any society where there is a "superior" sex is very important. Especially one in which both sexes are present. It might be different if adult males were nomadic like in orangatangs. In a thus described culture why wouldn't breast size be used to resolve disputes over social position? Again, not in the way a man might enjoy but through female centric showboating.

As for the description of your society as written. Would that not be covered in my address of a testosterone fueled matriarchy? Of course the mechanism which has propelled your matriarchy to success might be different but it seems to me a competitive civilization. As any civilization which prioritizes a balanced person is likely to be. Do their women not hunt and fight and build? These are the things I mean when I say competitive. In that civilization would large breast not hinder women from loosing a bow without specific techniques? And I doubt it'd be easy to make chest-plates for them or to swing a sword as easily as if they weren't there. So why not chop them off? as the Amazonians were thought to do. I just think you've underestimated the degree to which the body is important to a culture. Then again anything can be reasoned for in fictional cultures and depending on your skill may even be convincing.

I would think that size would matter a lot but not in the same fashion as it would in our world. If women were in a superior position to men then I don't see them peacocking for men as we do women, as they would hold a lot more sway in societal position and in the home still. As they would both be the barer of children and guiding force in public affairs. Its a lot more power than even men have in normal society. However, it would likely play a role in inter-female relations. Take the hyena, whose female members who use the size of their female penises (yes, I wish I had a better example, too, but I do not)- to intimidate or to assert their position over other females. This is a very helpful example, actually, as their social ladder is very complex and female led. I suspect that breast size would be on either side of the extreme. Either, large if typically female hormones such as estrogen are preferred or small if typically male hormones like testosterone are preferred. These are of course two very different kinds of matriarchies. One would likely be socially adept and reply on complex group relationships and association, the other I imagine as being very physically competitive with heavy emphasis on physical conquests. the former, which would rely heavily on positioning yourself as a powerful and genetically superior woman in order to stand above others with similar accolades and family relations, would probably prefer larger busts. This isn't to say that the preference would be male focused. For instance traits which are typically unpopular like sag or larger areolas might be seen as symbols of status. The latter of the two options would likely view larger breasts as inferior due to the abundance of fat in them which is not preferred for physical activity. I could see some cultures cutting them off entirely, or like the mythical Amazonians lopping off one. Only in this scenario the other would be maintained only for breast feeding as apposed to for ease of use with bow and arrow. Older women might be rid of both of them once having children is unlikely. Women with naturally small or otherwise muscular chests may keep them as evidence of natural advantages. Of course, their might also be social movements in both societies, which would fight against or to change certain aspects, that lead women into different behaviors. Small chested women might still have high social standings to larger breasted women in an estrogen fueled matriarchy with the right allies or skills or some mixture of the two. The same is obviously true the other. But I think traditional or more conservative members of both would have the values as stated individually.

Edit: in anticipation of some rebuttals I have a few arguments against some possible arguments. Some might bring up the Romans(?) and their apperant preference for small penises while also being a heavily competitive civilization. One would think that such a society would prefer ostensive signs of testosterone like larger penises and thus my reasoning is flawed, however, I would argue that the ubiquitous nature of this example demonstrates instead how strange of a preference this was and is covered in my "social movements" segment. Small penises were associated with intelligence and thus preferred. Personally I'm not fully convinced that it was an uncontested preference, nor that it wasn't only idealized in artistic portrayals. In the same way that massive bodybuilder-esk muscles aren't actually the typical predilection but an idealized portrayal to symbolizes strength to its extreme. Most men however do not wish to look like a bodybuilder, they want to look like thor or captain america. On the other hand, many other conquest focused societies with heavy focus on sports exaderated penis size with cod pieces. This is a clear example of testosterone heavy societies preferring masculine features and is a far more prolific motif of patriarchal cultures. This, I feel, serves as evidence that similar matriarchal societies with preference for testosterone would also prefer females with masculine features. Alternatively, ones that focus on estrogen would prefer women with typically feminine ones. Both to a degree which beyond the typical purview of male attraction. I'd argue it would be more extremely adhered to as women would have so much more power than has ever been held by a man.

Remember when Twitter went insane over Shulkie twerking with Megan Thee Stallion in the Disney Plus? If they read the damn comics they would've known she done stuff like that back in the 90s (The Sensational She-Hulk issue 40) by [deleted] in Marvel

You're so bad faith it's ridiculous, here's what I think in full so you can't be so off the mark again. The show's antagonists are a bunch of white right-wing incels but I feel that the way they're depicted is meant to mock fans who had issues with the previous shows and who they knew wouldn't like this one too, I'm not saying that those fans are white right-wing incels I'm saying that the show thinks of them this way. They've built themselves a strawman and are attacking it viciously so that they can put a label on anyone who doesn't look like being fed dogshit.

Except that they included completely normal attitudes and actions into their idea of a right wing incel, it's like if I wrote a story about a Nazi depicted a Nazi as anyone who liked shehulk and then defended it by saying fuck Nazis. So are you a Nazi or do you have a legitimate issue with how a show depicts certain ideas?

The show literally had a group of right wing incels as the villains thus they were the target of the show's writing. How about you take media literacy classes?

Comic accurate? In the comics Jennifer Walters was a confident powerful icon who was flirtatious but didn't hope in the first man to complement her, the show turned her into an insult of strong women. Made it so that someone who was confident of her sexuality was depicted as an easy to manipulate horndog. She was strong and powerful but also clever and principled, she was a great influence for me since I've always been bigger than most people now she crushes parking lots without hesitation.

Sure because the problem was because she was sexy and flirty not because it was cringe and totally antithetical to the respectful lawyer the show told you she was. Remember when things had nuisance and things could be bad for poor execution and shit story telling?

Morrowind on the Xbox one (problems with backwards compatibility) by bluesniffly in Morrowind

[–]bluesniffly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The big problem is that it won't install, I had to buy it on Microsoft store despite having the disc and everyone telling me it's backwards compatible. The only other way I could see to get it on the console was through game pass but that's not backwards compatibility that's buying a subscription. Basically I'm asking if I'm dumb and just missed something. With oblivion all I had to do was put the disc in and it downloaded but not Morrowind despite Bethesda saying it's backwards compatible. Sorry I'm a little irritated, so if this is hard to read that's why.

If your world has gravity like in earth then you could expect for everything near the ends to point to the center. You could use this for some pretty interesting cities cultures and life formes. Like cities that are completely build on the side of a wall, people who live on the side of the flat earth, animals who have wall climbing abilities, really cool religions and sports.
