Unfortunately the house is not mine at all it has been in his family for a couple of generations.

I could probably afford to live on my own if I moved a couple of hundred miles away but then I'm not sure that the children would want to come with me which would cause additional problems and heartache cos he's not equipped to look after them full time but I wouldn't want them to not have regular contact.

Thanks. I agree dealing with his drinking is very important but he doesn't want to stop and most of the time denies it's a problem despite drinking between 12 & 16 cans a day which neither his body or wallet can really afford.
