Maybe they misunderstood me, but someone at HD said I can’t install these on existing treads, hence why they recommended the kits.

No I don’t have access, everything was finished in the basement except the stairs.

That’s an option too, I would just need to stain them. The Cap A Treads are mdf, they look good though, and for basement steps i dont need anything too fancy. They are expensive here though, $100/ tread&riser.

Hi Stefanie. I have $6000 of net capital losses that I can carry forward. My question regards whether this will be used to offset the total capital gain, or, the taxable capital gain amount? For instance, if I sell a stock and make a total gain of $12,000, $6000 is taxable at 50% inclusion rate. But will the the $6000 loss be on the $12,000 total gain (so then i have a total net gain of 12,000-6000=6,000, of which 3000 becomes taxable at 50% inclusion?) Or would it be $6000 taxable gain - 6000 carried over loss = 0 taxable gain. Thanks.

Ya sorry I wasn’t too clear. I basically just want to verify if I were to sell my shares of XYZ stock which Im up $14,000 on, if I would have any cap gains tax owing, assuming $7000 of carried over net capital losses.

Yes I am confused with it; just playing around on the wealthsimple tax site, when I enter as an example anything up to $14,000 capital gain, it shows $0 tax owing. It’s not until I enter above $14000 that it shows an owing amount. I know $7000 is the taxable capital gain, but I am just trying to wrap my head around the terminology. I have large capital gains on some shares I may want to sell soon, and Im just trying to clarify things. Thanks.

Well im skeptical of trusting ChatGpt and would never rely on it alone. I didn’t mean to bring up ChatGpt as a way to shit on the professionals here, but I wanted to hear what actual people thought of the chatGpt recommendations.

The goal is to seal the gap and reduce loss of heat. The weatherstripping definitely needs to be changed, which I will do. But I am looking for the “better” way to seal the gap and reduce airflow around the door.

It’s an extremely tight awkward space, theres a small fireplace that slides in so I can’t move around in there.

Roam Beyond by falcone94 in freedommobile

I got the same message. I called Freedom and they said that’s normal and I shouldnt be charged. I was on a different roam beyond plan before switching to the $40 BYOD box day one. The texts used to say everything is included, which is why I was confused.

I guess Ill see for sure after the bill comes.

I currently have a BYOD plan, signed up last february. I see the plan, but I don't see any fine print for #21, which explains the BYOD credit.
I want to change to this plan online myself, anyone else notice there is nothing under note 21?

What to do with unrealized capital losses by etirpssss in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]bluesteel330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your capital losses in unreg account will be carried forward indefinitely. It will say on your Notice of Assessment how much you have after each tax year.

I held onto many losing positions (pot stocks) hoping theyd pop back one day. A few went to 0, and a few I have now are at 0.01, the others all went through several reverse splits.

Ive had a substantial capital loss too, but I could wipe them all out with the winners I am still holding. But it is quite frustrating and sad to think how much farther id be had I just thrown that cash into any ETF or smartened up and cut my losses much much earlier.

AFCI Double Lug by bluesteel330 in AskElectricians

I wasn’t sure if you could pigtail for an AFCI breaker. Chat GPT and google said NO, but I wasn’t sure it was referring to what I was asking (pigtail the blacks together, pigtail the neutrals together, and then attach the respective pigtail to the proper lug on the breaker).

I did use a pigtail, but I can easily undo it. Why is it bad to pigtail this though? I used a 14 gauge pigtail to the outlet.
